Why less than $2500/month is poor and why $10k is easier than you think (even if you're in Pakistan)
You would think that at $2500 life is great.
But the reality is, the impact of the war is harsh. Inflation always leaves a scar. The dollar exchanged for 100 PKR back in 2014. Now it's 280 PKR in 2026. And since it's crossed 200, it has shown NO sign of going back down.
Oil prices. Electricity prices. Gas prices. Rent prices. All on the rise.
Not to mention, worth checking if your country has an 'oil levy'. That's a subsidy on the price of fuel. And if that's true, well even at the sky high prices the government is giving you a discount.
And it's the time where having a self sufficient house is more important ever.
But before I get into that, I want to tell you roughly how much time you have to sell AI Agents.
Spoiler: 2026 to 2029.
And as we approach the end of 2029, AI Agents will be a commodity. Price competition. No premium rates.
You have roughly 2.5 years. That's less time than a bachelors degree. By that time, white collar jobs will be a handful. Only the 1% with 2-3 assistive employees. Enterprises will shrink to ~20 person companies. The infrastructure to make this a reality is already in momentum.
Don't believe me? Well imagine this. From December 2021 to May 2026, we live in a world where AI is with us from breakfast to lunch. When GPT 3.5 came out, you were impressed. And now? You laugh at it. Because GPT 5.5, Opus 4.7, Kimmi 2.6, etc can operate like full time employees. Pull from your google docs, edit your spreadsheets, write pages to Notion, build memories, make API calls, find files on your computer and even sort out your finances. That's less than the time it takes a human to learn to speak basic sentences. 4 years.
Talk to someone in their bachelors these days and they have no idea of the unemployment thats about to hit them.
It's the amount of change your parents, your siblings, your friends, YOU or I were NEVER designed to handle. You'd think doom scrolling is bad? This is worse. Open Instagram and you will immediately feel that you know nothing. RAG, Skills, MCP, CLI, Claude Code, Agentic Workflows, Agent Swarms, HeyGen, DeepFakes, HiggsField, Google Labs.
The content shitstorm is now a reality. 1 in 3 creators is using deep fakes to create AI content, about the latest AI developments. And it's hard. Hard to focus. Hard to not get distracted. Hard to not feel like you're left behind. Hard not to feel like you need to LEARN EVERY SINGLE THING.
But there's a reason for that. They want to sell you a course about concepts. About theory. About getting you busy building. The exact stuff that takes time away from selling. They know that it's a gold rush and they can profit without giving you a real return on your investment. I can't call them a scam. But what I can say is it's a sale of no substance because what you pay them doesn't come back. Not in profit. And not even in revenue.
Back to the math of $2500 a month.
Let's be real. Unless you want to live in the outskirts of a country or a village, $2500 isn't enough. The average house in Islamabad pays between $200 to $400 in electricity. Rent for a family of 4 (a house) ranges from $1000 to $2000 easily. Add the lowest values up, you're already at $1200.
If you want someone to for cooking and cleaning part time, you're looking at $100. $200+ for full time If you want a nanny, that's $200+. 1 fuel refill for a car is approx $50/week. At 4 weeks, that's easily $200 in fuel. Gas is another $200+. No groceries yet by the way and you're at $1600.
Bare minimum weekly groceries for a family of 4 in Islamabad? It's $50 week. And these won't be fancy groceries. In fact, the kind of shit that's actually going to slow your brain down. If you want to eat healthy, fresh meat, fresh greens, good quality olive oil or organic/desi ghee, woof that all comes to $100+ per week. Real, organic desi ghee or cold pressed olive oil is EASILY $20/Kilogram now. Keep $400 per month for healthy, good quality groceires. $200 per month for garbage that ends up increasing your medical bills.
Now you're between $1800 to $2000. You have $500 USD left. One medical emergency in the family and boom, that $500 vanishes. $0 in saving.
And if you're in a developed country like the US, UK, etc I am sure you're well aware that in those countries $2500/month is exactly what minimum wage comes to. 5 days a week. 8 sweaty hours a day. $15 hour. Maybe 1 free meal or a coffee as "courtesy from the boss". Not to mention, the only job security you have working at a bar, restaurant or coffee shop is what the boss thinks of you. If they want to fire you, they will.
I don't think you're the kind who want to be poor if you've joined this community. There is no pride in poverty.
And I know several of you have dependents. Parents. Siblings. Children. Or a Wife. Or a Husband. And some of you may even have someone terminally ill from chronic diabetes to late stage cancer. Unfortunately, an ill person in the house is all too common in Pakistan.
You make break even with a life in Islamabad at $2500. That is one good client. And less than a week of work. Reflect on this. ONE CLIENT. But the clock is ticking. People will only pay the premium until it becomes a commodity. Multiply by that 4 Clients or 4 AI Agents (Voice, WhatsApp, Website, Instagram) for a single client and you’re at $10k.
Or as they say in Urdu "ایک پتھر اٹھاؤ اور آپ کو 10 لوگ AI ایجنٹس بیچتے ہوئے ملیں گے۔"
English: Pick up a stone, and you will find 10 people selling AI Agents.
