I've seen many people measure their productivity by the number of tasks they complete rather than the quality of those tasks. However, focusing on what gives you the greatest return on investment is the key to 10x growth, even if going all in on it can be terrifying at first. This mindset strongly resonated with my journey as a high school student.
When I was in Grade 12, I had very low predicted grades, so I knew the only way to make a significant improvement was to perform extremely well on my final exams, as they are not influenced by predicted grades in my curriculum. I therefore focused on my “10x activity,” which was self-studying, and began skipping school because I realized that a lot of time in class was spent chatting with friends or joking with the teacher. I discovered that during self-study sessions, I could cover three to four times as much content in one hour as I would in class. I also found that I retained more information and built significant momentum.
In my opinion, skipping school to self-study may sound fun, but it is not easy. It is risky because of the fear that your social reputation might suffer. Additionally, it requires you to rely entirely on self-discipline rather than being guided by teachers.
Take the first step toward 10x growth, especially when you do not feel like it! In my opinion, that is the only way to achieve true self-fulfillment and pursue what you are passionate about.
