Defeat the Summer Humidity Boss: Part 1 – The Gap
It’s spring in Canada, and the summer humidity has officially arrived in Sault Ste. Marie! 🇨🇦☀️🥵
As we kick off our Summer Storage Logistics week, we’re tackling the invisible enemy of your property: trapped moisture. Your storage unit is secure, but in a Canadian summer, the standard logistics of packing need an upgrade.
The #1 Summer Storage Hack: Never push furniture, mattresses, or cardboard boxes directly against the metal walls of your unit.
Metal containers can "sweat" when daytime heat meets cooler night temperatures. If your items are touching the wall, that wall-sweat will soak directly into your cardboard, wood, or fabric, inviting mildew and musty smells.
The Pro Tip: Leave a 3-inch "Breather Gap" between your stack and the wall. This small channel allows air to circulate freely, keeping the environment balanced and preventing moisture from settling.
Logistics is about airflow, not just stacking.
📣 Have you ever noticed "sweat" or condensation on your storage unit walls during a humid July day in Ontario? How do you prevent it? 👇
