I have always had symptoms of ADHD but I was not outwardly overactive it was overlooked. I doodled, chewed gum, fidgeted, had ants in my pants all the time while listening in class, it helped me concentrate. I always would start a task and not finish it before I started 3other task, I listened to many conversations at once and retained the important information and I was easily distracted. I thought it was normal that my brain felt like I was always trying to keep up with it. At 42 I was given Ritalin to help me with my depression and my whole world changed. So many of those symptoms went dormant. I could tell if I forgot to take my medication because I was so disorganized. Presently my biggest problem is procrastination and getting started on necessary activities. It makes me feel like a failure but after lots of research I realize that it is a symptom of ADHD. Now to find help with this!
