🟣 What Worked This Week: Teaching that lasts · Friday Jan 9, 2026
This week, I was reminded how long teaching really lasts.
My mom ran into my old gymnastics coach back home in Vernon the other day. The one who shaped me.The one who still lives in my mind and my choices, even now.
She asked about me. To her, I’ll always be one of her students. And honestly — to me, she’ll always be my teacher.
It made me think about how these relationships work. We don’t stop being students just because time passes. And our students don’t stop being ours either.
Now that I’m on the other side of it, I feel it clearly.
When I see former students — grown, changed, amazing humans, living full lives, I still see them.
The focus.
The spark.
The potential they didn’t even know they had yet.
That connection? That’s part of the work. And when we teach with care and consistency, it lasts far longer than any single season or class.
So now I want to know:
"What’s something that worked for you this week — a moment, a habit, or a connection — that reminded you why this work matters?"
Share one thing you noticed or appreciated about your teaching this week. :)
