A Table for One
There was a moment in Melbourne that stayed with me.
I remember walking into Hopetoun Tea Rooms and asking for a table for one.
Just one.
I was seated with a pot of tea in fine bone china, surrounded by beauty — intricate details, soft light, colour and movement, the quiet elegance of another era. It felt almost cinematic. I sat there, watching the world pass by, and for a moment… I felt like a princess in my own life.
Not waiting.Not missing anything.Simply there.
I remember thinking how wonderful it was to celebrate myself in that way.
To take a table for one — and make it something meaningful.
To savour something delicious.
To be fully present with myself.
And somewhere between the tea and the stillness, a thought formed…
What if there were others, in their own seasons of life, doing the same?
People who are single — by choice, by circumstance, by loss, by transition — yet choosing to stand in their lives with a sense of wholeness.
People who aren’t waiting for life to begin, but are already living it.
There is something quietly powerful about encountering others in a similar season — not from a place of lack, but from a place of self-worth.Where we can celebrate one another, as we are.
Perhaps this space becomes just that.
A place where we share the experience of a “table for one”… together.Where stories are exchanged, perspectives are offered, and little pearls of wisdom are gathered along the way.
If this resonates with you — you’re in the right place.
