START HERE — What This Place Is and How It Works
Welcome to A Cappella. I'm Denis.
I've spent 40+ years singing, directing, competing, coaching, and producing a cappella events across the world. I built this place because it didn't exist — and it should.
This is a gathering place for anyone who sings with their voice, or wants to. Barbershop, jazz, gospel, contemporary, doo-wop, classical, world music, vocal percussion — every style lives here. There is no hierarchy.
What this place IS: A community where singers become groups. Where you can share what you're working on without fear of judgment, find people to sing with, learn from each other, and feel the thing that happens when voices lock in together.
What this place is NOT: A marketplace. A competition. A place to pitch your coaching business, sell your course, or promote your gig. There are other places for that.
THE 5 RULES
1. Sanctuary, not marketplace. No pitching, no advertising, no self-promotion. If you have something to sell, this isn't the room.
2. ALL styles welcome. Barbershop, jazz, gospel, doo-wop, contemporary, classical, spiritual, world. Every tradition has something to teach the rest. Treat them all with respect.
3. No musical snobbery. This is the big one. The moment someone implies their style is superior to another, they've missed the point of singing entirely. Don't be that person.
4. Expression over performance. Singing is the same impulse as crying, speaking, or sighing — it's expression. You don't need to be "good enough" to participate here. You need to be willing to open your mouth.
5. Community matchmaking, not classifieds. The "Find Your Group" board is for connecting with other humans, not posting ads. Tell us who you are, where you are, what you're looking for. We'll help you find your people.
