Fact Check - Dean Withers Delineates Distaste for Trump
This video has gotten a lot of attention, and it makes a lot of claims about Trump. Even though a lot of what is said supports my views against him, I still want to make sure I'm not leaning on "facts" just cause some voice parroted them on the internet.
I plan to do my investigations here and link to my sources. I invite anyone else to make a thread of their own if they wish to do the same for similar content across the internet.
Here is the list of accusations and claims:
Character
- His character is "absolutely abysmal" (00:36).
- He is an "adjudicated rapist" (00:39), with a civil court determining he was guilty of sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll in 2023 (00:40).
- He is a "34-count felon" (00:43), found guilty of 34 felonies for sending hush money to a porn star he cheated on his wife with before the 2016 election and misclassifying the payments as business expenses (00:45).
- He is "pretty racist" (00:58).
- He is "incredibly misogynistic" (01:17).
- He was involved with Jeffrey Epstein, claiming they were "best buddies" while Epstein was abusing children on his island (01:52).
- In 2003, he sent Epstein a letter with a picture of a naked girl and a statement saying, "May every new day be another wonderful secret" (02:08).
- He is a "chronic liar," telling over 30,000 lies in his first term (02:21).
- He told the "largest lie that any sitting president has ever told" when he denied the outcome of the 2020 election and convinced 72% of Republicans to also deny it (02:25).
- He is a "raging narcissist" who tried to rig and steal the 2020 election after he lost (02:38).
- He is an "egotistical power maniac" who doesn't care about checks and balances (02:48).
Domestic Policy
- His domestic policy is "just absolutely atrocious" (03:29).
- Economic Policy (03:32):
- He directed SCOTUS to overturn Roe v. Wade (04:23), which has led to 60 rape victims per day being denied access to abortion in 10 states and infringes on the rights of 66 million American women (04:25).
- He proposed renaming the Department of Defense to the "Department of War" and then wanted to "declare war" on American citizens in Chicago and D.C. (04:39).
- He doesn't care about violent crime, as evidenced by his pardoning of 72 violent offenders from the January 6th Capitol riot (04:52).
- Immigration Policy (05:10):
Foreign Policy
- His foreign policy is "even worse" than his domestic policy (05:46).
- He is "bending the knee to Israel" and enabling the killing of "more innocent Palestinians" (05:48).
- He is signing "very terrible agreements with the Congo" to exploit their minerals while falsely claiming to have ended their conflict with M23 insurgents (05:55).
- He imposed tariffs on every U.S. ally, which has led 23 countries to stop all parcel shipments to the U.S. (06:06).
- These policies are leading to an increase in power for other countries like China and Russia (06:14).
