Fixing my Instagram
I joined last week with basically no Instagram, and before I go out and start taking photos I want to post my thoughts after doing my research and get your reactions. Most of the things I've noticed are: 1) Your attention is valuable so don't focus on the camera 2) Look like you're busy/there for a reason. Make the audience see the photo and make assumptions of who is taking your picture and why you are in that location. You don't have to elaborate. Everyone should only be posting their best photos to Instagram 3) Even with no photo editing experience, all you really need to spend time learning about is the basics of filters and get a tripod. 4) Many people post different outfits in each picture. It's just about looking classy. 5) You can find the most photogenic and scarce resources just by a simple google search. Additionally, most hotels have restaurants that you can book a reservation for to get access to it for photo opportunities. Did I mostly get that right? Is there anything major that I'm missing? Additionally, I haven't seen anything that talks about time frame. My profile picture is from my brother's wedding ~5 years ago, but I think it shows me off well. Is it okay for me to keep this as my profile picture on Instagram, or should I make it a more recent photo?
Hello!
I'm Tyler from Rochester, NY 30 years old, aeronautical engineer. I worked on helicopter design for about 7 years until my girl cheated on me, I was clinically depressed and suicidal, adapted a victim mentality which took me about 2 years to overcome. Since then I've been working on just getting back into my own skin. Recently I resigned from a position as a quality engineer because "I felt like I *deserved* more," and I had a realization about a week ago that I don't deserve anything in life. If I want something I have to put in the work to obtain it. Since then I've started really trying to refocus by working on my discipline, lacing up my running shoes, and hitting the climbing gym. While I am currently primarily focused on looking for new work now, there's no time like the present to build yourself into who you want to be. Glad to be here!

@Benjamin Juarez Right now I'm focusing on building discipline so I can be more consistent. I know that eventually I want a wife and 2-3 kids and there aren't any vacation days when you're a parent. It's hard to just pick just 1 thing. I've never really done much of is social media, and the concept of it being a business card that you can take anywhere with you is really attractive to me, and I would've had no idea where to start if not for a lot of the examples provided by this group. Another thing that I know that I have trouble with is maintaining eye contact with women. I know that I have trouble keeping my eyes up, but I notice myself when I do it, so I at least have that much self-awareness. Finally, I just want to level up my life in all aspects. I don't have trouble making connections in person, however with no little social media presence (I don't think I've posted on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram in at least the past ~5 years) I have no way of really making those connections concrete.

@Max Villman Thanks Max. I know that while I've started the journey I still catch myself reverting to the victim mentality mindset in order to protect my ego,. However, now that I've decided to let go of that mindset I am able to stop myself.
