Challenges - The customer asked me to transport a bunch of logs across a creek and got my track loader stuck in a major hole next to a creek. Customer asked me to rebuild the creekside at my expense, which I agreed to do. On a positive note, I learned how to shore up a creekside with 18" rip rap! Next time there is a creek crossing, I'll know that remediation must be discussed with the customer prior to accepting the job. Wins - Closed a 5 day mulching job from a social media lead that was done by Cedar Digital. @Gianna da Costa

Chasing the dream
Don't know who needs to hear this or if I'm just talking to myself but don't get discouraged. When others in your industry are only talking down about it and trying to talk you out of your dreams, remember there must be something good to it or they wouldn't be doing it. We're in this together and we need to have each other's backs even if just as a cheerleader to keep one another going. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Small Jobs and Discounts
Wanted to get opinions from others about a situation I'm encountering right now. There is a small 1/2 day job (5 small tree removal) that I quoted yesterday. This afternoon, the client asked if I can lower the price and, if I can't, would I do some other work (moving logs which will take 1-2 hours) across their property. My response was that the initial estimate is the best price and I can move the logs for additional cost. I've been in business for several months, things are going really well and I have several weeks of work scheduled so I don't feel like I need to be super flexible with this client. How would you handle this situation?

@Austin Gray I'm hoping it's not too lengthy of a fix and they bring the right parts on the first service call because I only have one machine. Luckily the client is a retired airline pilot and understands that delays happen when equipment breaks. And, trying to wrestle a track on a slope is not joke...I had a nightmare last night of the track rolling down the hill and into the ravine below....LOL

Just as we expected, the tensioner hydraulic cylinder stuck in the extended position. The tech fixed it in a single visit and my 870 is back up! He also gave the machine a quick inspection and it’s looking good which is shocking considering it’s from the Richie Bros auction.
