Tryouts: Day 2
I ended up not making the first cut. Even though I played good defense and hustled, I just didn't get the ball enough on offense to score. I tried backdoor cutting, getting open, I yelled for the ball, but nothing worked. There were people who made the first cut who were infinitely worse (and played worse) than me, and played 0 defense. Someone who was also worse than me made the team because their brother was on Varsity. Half of the team is probably gonna be pre-chosen for JV1 next year but I just gotta get so good that the coach can't not notice me.
KD
I've found out that my play style is very similar to KD, as I favor the midrange, especially pullups. However, KD is 6 '11, has a monstorous wingspan, and moves like a guard. As a shorter player (5'8), how would I emulate his play style, or is there someone else I could study?
Tryouts Day 1
I definetly played better than I thought I would and was much more confident/skilled. I played pretty good LOUD defense which allowed for easy offense for my teammates, ran as hard as I could in transition, and backdoor cutted when I needed to. However, I was playing with a bunch of ball hogs, ans only managed to get one point out of three attempts (one of them was a foul). Coach talked to some people, even people who I thought did worse than me, but not me. How do I make myself stand out more? I guess just being selfish and scoring?
Tryouts
I have tryouts today, I'm actually excited rather than nervous. Im a freshman btw, and my school has a ton of competition, especially from ppl who don't even play basketball. Any tips to get noticed?

Usually just basic catch and shoot threes, or drive into the paint into a fadeway or pullup. Can't say for sure though, I haven't been playing organized basketball for nearly enough time, these are the shots I take in both YMCA runs and games in general.
