Will a GBP appear for searches close to the business when the service area is much wider?
Hi ! If a business specifies in their GBP that their service area is nation wide, does their GBP have a good chance of appearing when someone physically close to their location searches for their service (assuming the GBP is well optimized for that service)? For my agency, my GBP doesn't show up when I search for terms such as "digital marketing". I am wondering if it's because my service area is all of Canada and the USA, but I don't show my location because I work from home.

@Les Cseh that's not what I mean. Yes you can and should have one. You can have clients from anywhere. But you won't rank nationally. Google gives preference to local businesses. So if your in California your not going to rank in Texas. There are local agencies in Texas and your not local. There are things you can do to expand your reach some but that takes work and you will still not rank nationally with a gbp. You can however rank a website but that will take work. SEO etc. You may want to get some training on seo & gbp so you understand it. Youtube is a good resource.

@Les Cseh There could be a few reasons. We don't have enough info. Businesses that don't show an address (home service) show up and rank, so its likely not that. Are you sure your profile is set up and publicly viewable, or did Google suspend it? Is it verified, etc. When you say its not showing up, do you mean for certain keywords or at all? You might show/rank for one term and not the other. What's the competition like in your area? What categories did you choose? etc. You need to look at all of that. Like I mentioned before, YouTube is a great resource. Hope you figure it out.

Apple Business Connect...
For anyone offering Google Business Profile (GBP) optimization services, it's time to pay attention to Apple Business Connect. While GBP has been essential for local search visibility, Apple Business Connect is quickly becoming a must-have for businesses looking to reach more customers, especially those using Apple Maps. Here’s why this matters: Default Navigation on iPhones: Apple Maps is the default navigation app on iPhones, and millions of people use it every day without a second thought. If your clients aren’t optimized for Apple Maps, they could be missing out on a huge chunk of potential customers. Apple’s Recent Focus on Business Connect: Apple is heavily investing in improving the reach and capabilities of Apple Business Connect. They’re making it easier for businesses to be discovered through Apple Maps and other Apple services. This makes it just as important as Google’s platform in the local search game. A Natural Add-On to GBP Services: If you’re already offering GBP setup and optimization, adding Apple Business Connect services is a logical next step. It’s an easy way to expand your offerings and help clients capture more visibility across both platforms.

@Brett Hatch Thank you. I appreciate you explaining in detail. I have struggled to get clients for the ongoing/monthly GBP SEO. They will sign up for 1x optimization but not monthly. Your recurring/monthly service for GBP ends up being $199mo. Do I understand correctly? Then you add apple on as a bonus. I'm an Android user/Google, so I didn't even realize this was a thing, and so it happened. I was with a friend who is older and who has an iPhone, and they were asking how to get directions because they could figure it out, and of course I'm thinking just go to Google Maps, but they couldn't pull it up because Apple uses Apple Maps. I was stumped as I tried to help them. Then I saw this in the group, and now I'm thinking, Wow, this could be a service to offer and a way to get my foot in the door. As you mentioned, people are probably not offering it, and it could get a business owner's attention.

@Brett Hatch That's awesome, and your getting them on a contract for 26 weeks! Yes, I'd love that. Thank you for offering. Framing it hourly might be just the thing to do. It might allay their fear somehow. I'm not sure I fully grasp why, but its working for you.
