The blog is live - and I posted my first piece of content!
Feedback is in need and much appreciated! If you have some spare time please visit the blog and tell me: - whether you find the website appealing (colours and layout) - your thoughts about the presentation - is it clear what the blog is about? - There are currently two blog posts online - one for a brief introduction and the other is the first real topic. Please give me some feedback on how you like the content and the length of it - longer or shorter reading time? - I want to post once a week - won't make it more often, otherwise, it is going to be hard to still have a life alongside studying at med school and working ~10h a week. Also, please share everything else that comes to mind. Thank you so much! http://www.miningforgrowth.com

@Hannah Weaver Thanks Hannah! So glad the text connected with you :) Your idea with subheadings is actually pretty good...haven't thought about this yet.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobis...
The month of August slipped through my fingers with stresses at my day job, stresses at home (landlord wants to raise my rent over 20%!), and so on and so on. However, I found my mojo leading up to the most recent Mastermind call and put together a video on a topic that's been kicking around my brain for a while... was super excited to write it, record it, edit it, realize the lighting was terrible (again) and then re-record it and re-edit it, do all the things to post it to YouTube, *scheduled it* (as an experiment -- one new tool in my toolbox!), and then... My excitement evaporated when I realized the topic was crap, the story was crap, my writing was crap, and my delivery most of all was crap. So. Imposter syndrome? Sleep deprivation-induced mood swings? Or, did I just return to reality? I think I might want to start moving away from the scripted delivery style... I'm not sure I like the cadence. But, what's *your* opinion? Do I sound too... much? If you have a few minutes and are so inclined: What is the first, most obvious thing you would recommend to this humble synthesizer to better connect with the audience? https://youtu.be/WbQ_263QfpE Thank you in advance for your mentorship, my Jedi Masters!

Hey Allan! I think you are suffering from a form of impostor syndrome. I really liked the video! You are a great storyteller and the fact that the video is scripted was not obvious to me - it seemed more like a well-tailored story and came with a very nice message at the end. Customers only want to be successful in what they want to achieve - it is the Job of a good provider of products/services to find out what is needed to get there. I found it very easy to stay engaged with the video and did not have the urge to stop watching. That is to a large part for your great skills in using the right tone and talking speed during your delivery. I assume (because of your profile picture) this is because you are used to speaking in front of people and know how to command their attention. Good Job, keep it up!
Slow down
Here’s this poem that I rediscovered recently. I think it has a great message Slow Dance By David Weatherford Have you ever watched kids On a merry-go-round? Or listened to the rain Slapping the ground? Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last. Do you run through each day On the fly? When you ask: How are you? Do you hear the reply? When the day is done, Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores Running through your head? You’d better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last. Ever told your child, We’ll do it tomorrow? And in your haste, Not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die Cause you never had time To call and say, “Hi”? You’d better slow down Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last. When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through the day, It is like an unopened gift thrown away. Life is not a race. Do take it slower. Hear the music Before the song is over.

Wonderful! Especially since modern age and technology it has gotten increasingly harder to live in the moment and just be there and observe. Most of us have almost completely forgotten how to do that. As everything else, this is a skill and some never even learned it. As soon as some situation forces us to be alone with our thoughts and don't do anything else than watching and listening to the rain, we can't bare the feeling and get out our phones and check social media or something else to numb it. But since it is a skill, and a vital one too, it can be learned. The hard thing is to realize that this skill is even missing since most never really had it. This poem does a great job helping us realize.

@Deleted Well I agree partly...In my opinion, our nature is still the same as it was 10.000 years ago when we all lived in caves. Evolution takes time and the modern age came too fast for us to adapt and change - it hit us like a high-speed train. I doubt that hunter-gatherers back in the day had problems living in the moment...I think that is something we have unlearned over the years. We grew uncomfortable with the silence in our heads that's present when we are bored and don't know what to do. So we get out our phones. It is true though that judging early and generally having lots of prejudices over others is human nature. In his book "Sapiens" Juval Noah Harari explains this phenomenon and why it was a crucial mechanism for humans to be able to cooperate in large tribes. Without judgement, be it right or wrong, that wouldn't have been possible. A highly recommended read btw. :)
Never Spilt the Difference — A fantastic book about negotiation
Sales is tough. But as Naval says, "Learn to sell. Learn to build. If you can do both, you will be unstoppable." So I read some books to upskill myself. And today, I published a short article about "Never Split the Difference" by former FBI negotiator Chris Voss. 3 people have already reached out to say they loved it. (which is 3 more than usual) So I thought the Synthesizers might like it too. Hope you enjoy it: https://cswidmaier.substack.com/p/never-split-the-difference-pt-1

Need some feedback
I'm currently building my blog's website and struggling with some decisions regarding the functionality. I would really love for my readers to be able to log into the website via their existing social media accounts (for the least possible resistance) so they can save their favourite blog posts and make some personal notes to get the highest value possible for themselves. The problem is I underestimated how complicated it is to implement this feature....so my question is: Do you think it is even necessary? Would you as a visitor appreciate such a feature and use it? I've seen lots of other successful blogs that don't have this, but I reckon that's what makes it special in comparison to others out there.

@Benedek Santa Good Point! Maybe I should focus on getting the main functionality (blogging) going first and start creating before I think about this stuff...

@Anessa Ryce Yea I know from personal experience that I would sign in too if I had the possibility to use my existing google account...the benefit is mainly for the reader and not the site owner. This way I wanted to encourage people to get more involved in the blog and thus make it more likely for them to come back. But I guess I will leave this topic for now and concentrate on the vital things first :)
