Hey everyone, excited to be here. My name is Paul Turner (Caplan). - I hope to gain a clear understanding of what my musical project needs to do to get an audience—better marketing strategies, internet traction , figuring out what’s missing, etc. We work pretty hard but don’t seem to really get anywhere. A lot of what Kevin has said resonates with me. - I started making music in sixth grade playing trumpet, baritone, and saxophone. I always wanted to be a drummer, so I started to teach myself how to play drums when I was about 20, and I’ve just been doing that ever since. I love rock and metal and I’m always inspired by the greats like Dave Weckl, Neil Peart, Dennis Chambers, Matt Cameron and others. - I’m in a prog-ish hard rock band now that I really love. We create really good music (we think) together. We just have a difficult time getting traction. At live shows, people seem to really love it, but it’s tough to get the online attention that seems necessary these days, and we feel kind of lost on how to make that happen. - My band, Upwell, does have a release— “When We Come Down” feel free to check it out. Posted a single below. The band has been around for a while, before me and my bass player from a previous project joined. The most current releases have me in them. https://upwellmusic.com/track/3585977/the-way-you-love-me-explicit - No set timeline really, but we’re getting ready to record new stuff and are confused about whether we should do an album, release singles in succession, and then an album, or something else. The best approach at our level feels unclear. The goal for me honestly is to just figure out what parts of the puzzle we’re missing, because we do work very hard and we’re exhausted. We’ve encountered a lot of the doubts and struggles you talk about in the marketing campaign for this group. Seeing you go from playing small local stages at the Rainbow Tavern and The Loft to giant stages on a global scale has been really inspiring to watch—so I thought I’d check this out. Here to learn.
