Hi, my name is Pamela Hsieh Mackey, and I’m from the Chicagoland area. I’m always looking to be in community with writers, and I found Esmé’s work through Danielle LaPorte a few years ago. I’ve written for most of my life, and had a sudden, and significant, brain injury at 19 that gifted me with a whole new set of physical limitations — so it was really interesting & valuable for me to come across The Unexpected Shape. It’s hard for me to choose just one favorite book as I have a wide spectrum of tastes. I love the quirk of David Sedaris’s memoirs (my fave probably being Me Talk Pretty One Day). I’m currently slowly reading the Court of Thorns and Roses series and am in the middle of the Hades & Persephone saga by Scarlett St. Clair. In another vein, I loved the book The Perfectionist’s Guide to Losing Control. As a child and teen I used to only write fiction, but as I shifted into my young adult years I’ve moved more into creative nonfiction, such as memoir and blogging. Since writing has always been part of my life, I know it will follow me in some form forever. 🙂
