What are your main writing struggles right now?
I'd love to get to know you and your current work-in-progress! What's your current writing project, and what are your main struggles right now with that project? Struggles could be creative, could be life-related, could be body, mind, heart, soul — anything that's keeping you from making your envisioned progress.

I started a memoir project in 2020. I do like the ~60 pages I've got, and I've gotten good feedback from a few readers, but my life has changed profoundly since 2020 and I'm no longer preoccupied with the same things! The topics remain really important to me, and I don't want to abandon it, but I'm finding it difficult to sit down and flesh it out. I'm open to reimagining the larger scope of the project, I just don't know what that different scope would be. I'd love to hear thoughts and suggestions from the community!

@Jen Machajewski That's a great point. I need to get all the writing out, regardless of whether it fits into the current project. You're making me realize that I let that voice in my head speak up again - the one that shames me for somehow 'writing wrong.' Thank you Jen!
The daily pet thread
I thought it might be nice to have a daily pet thread. Here's Daphne, whom some of you might already know about. She's about 11 years old and an incredible sweetie (unless you're another dog or the USPS).

Hello! I am Molly (she/her) from Chicago. I'm excited to be here because I've always needed a writing community to keep my practice up. Also, it's a huge relief to be in community with other people with limitations. Reading has been difficult for me for the past 10 years due to depression, panic, and ECT. I've missed it horribly. Things seem to be improving, though, because I recently finished Here After: A Memoir by Amy Lin, which I absolutely loved. I'm near the end of The Collected Schizophrenias, which I've found incredibly comforting - another reason I'm excited to be here. I am writing a memoir project in poetry and prose about caring for, and eventually losing my grandmother to pancreatic cancer and losing myself (temporarily) to ECT and (more permanently) to chronic illness. The project searches for anything meaningfully permanent within these two fickle women who struggle with alcoholism (her) and serious mental illness (me). Important themes include psychedelic medicine, family trauma, Irish roots, and the role of memory. I'm so happy to be here! Thank you! -Molly
