Thank you for having me! Can’t wait to see it all come to life
THE YOUTH NEEDS A SAFE PLACE...
I know I can't be the only one who feels this way... I want to know who has kids or have been around kids and see the shift in their behaviors compared to how you were brough up. There is a big disconnect between generations which is not the problem because of course we will evolve; however, I feel like a lot of the basic foundations have been lost and forgot. For example: 1. Going outside and playing until the streetlights come on. 2. Reading books in school and taking weekly test. 3. Writing classes in school or writing period 4. Playing with friends without electronics. This is just a few... but what I realize is because these youth don't have a lot of human interaction, they are less wanting to talk let alone share their thoughts or emotions if it's not outside of what benefits them in that moment. I would love to hear your feedback on this....

I have kids and am a school counselor and honestly I think we as the adults play a part in this. We have made technology such a big deal that it now supersedes natural human connection. We are so busy trying to make life work that we miss many opportunities to interact with them ourselves. We give them smart phones and IPads and introduce them to unnecessary distractions and then we add chromebooks as a way to complete school work, no longer forcing them to learn the joy of writing. I don’t think it has been done on purpose, but in trying to simplify something’s, we lost others. Parents spend so much time at extracurriculars that outside of those, they are taking their kids to the park or the opposite, we are so anxious that we can’t let our kids out of our sight. There’s so many ways we can look at this but you are absolutely right, There’s a loss of some basic foundations.

@Nelly Nellz Scott I’m with you there! The shame and guilt is the part we as parents need to learn not to fall victim to in order to learn and embrace change for the better! I love the idea of your community. Keep up the good work!
