Community Rules: Integrity Dilemma
I'm developing the rules for my community and feeling stuck on how to create rules around promotion and selling (both in the main chat and the dms). The common recommendation is something like this: "1) No Self Promotion 2) No Selling in the DM's 3) No Spamming the Community Feed" But I also intend to invite people to upgrade to my paid group and to sell people to my group and courses in the DM's. Obvs there's some social grace here because its my own platform, but it feels super hypocritical... Tell others they cant self promote and sell in dms but do it myself??? ick. It would at least be honest to say: "1) No Self Promotion (Unless You Own This Group) 2) No Selling in the DM's (Unless it's for our Inner Circle) 3) No Spamming the Community Feed" 😅 Feels kinda weird either way 😋 Just me?... Any ethical resolution to be found here that would still be effective rule setting for a community?

@Maximus Cavalic haha yeah, im sure I am, and feeling the need to explore this so I can be solid in my integrity with those I serve, otherwise I feel hollow and so will my container.

@Bogdan Rosu Amazing use of Loom there Bogdan, thanks for your thoughts here! Yes, the rules are in service to protect the community from other spammers, and as leader it makes sense to offer people in the community opportunities to further support their own goals relevant to their interest being there in the first place. Guess its just the semantics of the thing, to say one thing and do the opposite. To act entitled as the leader that the rules I set dont apply to me. but that is semantics if the intention is to protect the good of the group and serve the interests of the group... two sides of the same coin question is what energy am i bringing to it. and yes, any resistance to sales that i have within me certainly attaches to these semantics as an excuse and creates an internal obstacle to my goals. So, inner reflection and reframing to be done here for sure. thanks for taking the time to offer what you did.
YOU MISSSED IT!!!
@Atena Pegler and I just hosted an epic workshop showing you how she became the top ranked/most profitable Skool community on the platform but... We hit max capacity so most people could not get in. What should we do? Give you the replay or host another live workshop?

That was incredible! I was late and locked out but kept trying to get back in and made it! So glad some people clearly had to cut out early to get to the turkey table...
Who's coming tonight?
We have hundreds of registrations for the workshop at 5pm PST/8PM EST but ... Are you actually coming? NO REPLAYS.

Free + Paid Community combo
I fear this might be an old and sore topic, so will do a quick summary and query in case there's something I'm missing: As is, its not possible to charge for courses in a free community A paid community is totally separate from a free community. each costs $100/month --> you can create an affiliate link for yourself from one to use for the other but you only get the $40 commission if you use a totally separate account for each one Please confirm or correct. Any ideas or workarounds you've found?

Public vs. Private Free Skool
I just noticed this skool is set to public. When would this be recommended? One one hand it's useful, because this way you can just send people directly to the freebie in the classroom without them having to request access first, on the other hand though they don't have much of a reason to click join if they can just take the freebie and leave 🤷🏼‍♂️ Lmk what you think :)

Im torn on this too. I'd prefer the feel of a public group but also want to maintain some privacy for people to post about personal issues. Going with Private

With compassion and curiosity I listen and relate with others, building bridges across the chasms of tribalism, and teaching them to do the same.
