Barefoot Shoes
G'day All Short time reader, first time poster...just delving into the barefoot material and about to crack on with the recommended audio book. I'm a massive advocate for running around barefoot as to me it's just comfortable, as a heavy diesel mechanic who wears boots for 10 plus hours a day I try to wear as little on my feet as possible when I'm not working. Which coincidentally gets me in trouble with my partner when I traipes dirt into the house or probably more importantly when I'm doing cabinetry work for our renos sans shoes. I found barefoot shoes many years ago when I was working on and around boats in NZ and absolutely loved them but since then I haven't gotten back into them...a few days ago when I ordered a new pair online (here's hoping they fit). Anyway, this actually feels like a bit of a nothing post. I guess I'm just curious as to who if anyone else wears them or has considered wearing them? I do understand that you don't get all the benefits of being completely barefoot but from my experience they do allow you to mould around what ever is under your foot and I can assure you when running or walking through the bush you still have to be careful as sharp objects will still cause you some pain.

I love my Merrells but they absolutely suck on a durability front. I go through a pair every 6-12 months wearing them at work. Ive got a pair of five fingers I use for hiking which are great too - the balance and connection to the ground is much better which is important to me when I’ve got a heavy pack or child attached (or both). I’ve had Vivobarefoot in the past but the shape doesn’t suit as well. Looking to try the Saguaros now
Day 9 of our 21 Day Movement Challenge
We are just shy of the halfway mark and we are very interested to know who is still on track to hit the goal of 21 days straight? And also if anyone has any wins to share from the last 9 days? So far we've had @Kristin Wareing working on her B.Ball skills while the kids ride bikes in the street, @Emma Ryan-Reid dancing around the kitchen at dinner time and @Franca Sala Tenna refusing to leave her bedroom each morning until she's done a morning practise :)

On track here! Morning practice everyday so far, albeit not always in the morning 🙃 Walks too and random patches of rolling, stretches throughout the day and a few handstands again.. plus the usual toddler chasing/wrangling 🤪 My body is already starting to feel less tight and restricted.

Drop a 🔥 in the comments if you're in! Small, consistent actions lead to big shifts. Let’s go!

🔥 Day one done!
Week 4?
Hey Em and Glenn, is week 4 still Pillar 1? Do we continue morning practice and add anything else? I can see Pillar 2 isn't unlocked yet.

@Glenn Robson @Emma Robson I've noticed I don't have access either? (bit behind the eight ball this week, have still been doing week 3 from memory :P)
Sunday musing about eyesight
I was thinking about the feet and how over padded shoes and orthotics are trying to (most of the time) substitute for a weakness or poor quality in whatever muscles, ligaments etc, and wondering if the same might be true of glasses for vision...? I've worn glasses to see distance since I was about 26 (after a good few years staring at computer screens) and am passing back through 20-20 vision which I thought was due to age as suggested by optometrist and expecting it to get worse in the other direction in time. But maybe it's more than that - nutrition changes, not wearing sunglasses as much, being outside more, looking to the horizon... Was wondering why they didn't suggest some exercises instead of popping me straight onto prescription lenses (I expect it's a follow the money answer 🤔). Interested to know if anyone else has tried to / been able to correct their vision?

I did a lot of reading into this years ago when I was having similar understandings around feet, also food, movement in general etc. And yes, I did discover they do impair our natural sight, and worsen it over time. There were many accounts of people healing vision by simply not looking at screens and refusing to wear glasses as much as possible.. so focussing a lot in the distance. Another friend has told me in her time in India, they were given exercises for the eyes if poor vision was a complaint, never glasses! I would love to be able to try.. but my vision is so awful it really hinders me. However.. dietary changes did improve my eyesight? As in my script improved. One day maybe life will give me opportunities to give it a try :)
