My blood trailers
Had a successful hunt this morning. High angle shot, arrow did not pass through so there wasn't a good blood trail. Put my trackers on her and they made short work of it. Deer jumped in a pond which made it tricky for the dogs but they didn't give up and figured it out.

October Madness
Oct Madness After missing all of last season because of non archery rotator cuff surgery I was able to take an Antelope in September and hunt whitetails in October. I was only out 3 times in September when a Dr. told me I needed to have a surgery on some skin cancer. That's not too bad I thought until after the surgery I was told no pulling a bow for 2 weeks. The weeks went by and October 20 th I was back in the woods in Iowa. My first set found me rattling in 5 bucks all at the same time....exciting! It slowed down after that and very, very windy. The afternoon of the 24th I was in MN sitting in a tree near my home where I had a large 8 pt come into 12 yds. I passed on him but later thought better of it. The afternoon of the 29th I got back into the same stand and 15 minutes later saw a, buck walking by at about 35 yds. 35 yds is stretching my preferred shooting distance so I grunted at him , he stopped looking my and started walking again, I grunted again and this time he stopped, turned and came right at me. I let him come to 15yds where he turned and I shot hitting him right in the mid body. The arrow was buried to the fletch as him ran off. I replayed the shoot through my mind several times and decided to wait over night to trail him. With a friend I returned the next morning and we found him 350 yds away. The shot wasn't perfect as It was gut's but caught the artery right under the spine. He is a nice 8 pt buck weighing in at 200lbs, my equipment is a Bear T/D 50lbs with Steelforce broad head.

Accuracy tips
Getting back into shooting recurve after several years of being out of the game. Anybody have any tips on being more consistent with accuracy? I can shoot a decent pattern but it’s still not where Id like and not where I used to be at. Thanks guys!

@Grant Richardson Wow that is so cool! What an inspiring awesome story. That makes me really want to check out his books too. Thank you so much for sharing that Grant. I can tell you really have a heart for this Communtiy and the people in it. Especially to take the time to interact with all your members and even a new member such as myself shows how much you love and care for this lifestyle and group. I’m so pumped to be learning from you and everyone here and to be apart of the community. Maybe one day I’ll get my shot on that legendary 700ib black bear like the incredible Fred Asbell. With your help I know anything is possible!

@Grant Richardson I’ll be sure to remember that “keep shooting kid” phrase and mindset. Dedicated practice and great advise goes a long way and I just have to remind myself that it’s not a race and to trust the process. To love and enjoy it is the whole point. Not to be able to shoot aspirin tablets from 20 yards😅
👋 Hey Guys!...Let's Take The Time To Introduce Ourselves...
My name is Jenn Richardson, my husband, Grant Richardson and I created this group, TradBowhunter - Ethical Predator. We are from Ontario, Canada, I have had a love for the outdoors since I was little. My grandfather being a conservation officer in the United States and my other grandfather a trapper here in Ontario. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 26yrs, love the outdoors, marketing and business so decided to put all three together! This is a passion piece for Grant and I...My hubby being the subject matter expert with Traditional Bowhunting as well as an author, podcast host and 3rd generation traditional bowhunter. We wanted to bring like minded people together and create a place to share their experiences with traditional bowhunting. ----------------- Hey folks! Grant Richardson here - about myself... I was raised in a hunting family. I have Bowhunted with traditional gear all my life and started shooting bows when I was 3. I've been able to hunt all over North America and along the way this past 40 plus years hunting with trad gear I have learned that success is born not from tech or the latest camo but from long cold days in the woods and often- failure. Bows and arrows were always a part of my life and I was lucky to have an upbringing that emphasized time in the woods. I was able to see both the rise of Bowhunting in Ontario and the laws and regulations based on ethics & conservation formed- But - also to see them fall apart to an Industry that focused on the latest and newest tech or gadgets to bring wild game home and not the skillsets I was raised to respect and follow. The very fabric of those primitive weapon/Bowhunting seasons was based on the fact that it was harder to take game with a bow and arrow- simply that it was difficult- but there is the truth that many forgot or perhaps never learned. The Ethical Predator was created from those lessons learned all my life. I helped create this community seeing a need to bring folks from all over the world into a community that supported the old ways, from scouting, tracking & the heritage of Bowhunting I grew up with.

I’m Kale and I grew up in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas and have been in love with the woods and outdoors since I could walk. Bushcraft, survival, and hunting was an early passion of mine and by the time I was 13 I was hunting mostly small game and whitetail with a traditional Colt 70/70 recurve bow that was gifted to me by my uncle. After getting a taste of traditional primitive archery and hunting, it has been a deep passion of mine. Due to life circumstances I was moving around a lot and was not always able to hunt. Now I am getting back into it and have been retraining myself to be accurate with my recurve again. I am now living in the San Antonio, Texas region and am a new member to the group, but I am loving it so far. Can’t wait to learn more and see all the cool stuff this community has to offer!
