🔥 3 Winter Health Issues EXPLODING Right Now (And What Actually Works)
Every winter, the same patterns show up in my community: 😱 "Why is my dog suddenly scratching at night?" "My dog's poop has been weird for weeks..." "The vet said it's 'just seasonal allergies' but nothing is working." Here's what's ACTUALLY happening—and how to stop it: 🤯 🎯 Issue #1: The Midnight Scratch Session Your dog's skin is a war zone right now. Indoor heating = bone-dry air. Their skin barrier breaks down. Then the real problem starts: their gut can't produce enough oils and nutrients to repair it. What doesn't work: Endless baths, expensive shampoos, steroids that wreck their system. What actually works: Fix the gut inflammation FIRST. The skin is just screaming about what's happening internally. Omega-3s and gut support stop the root cause—not just the symptom. 🎯 Issue #2: The "Mystery" Digestive Breakdown Less walks. Less movement. Holiday stress. Their metabolism shifts and their gut motility CRASHES. Result? Food sits too long in their system. Bad bacteria multiply. Inflammation spreads. You're seeing: loose stools, gas that clears the room, food sensitivities that "came out of nowhere." What doesn't work: Switching foods every two weeks, bland chicken and rice forever. What actually works: Digestive enzymes and probiotics to restart gut function. Movement (even indoors). Consistency with feeding times. Address the CAUSE, not just manage the mess. 🎯 Issue #3: The Winter Immune System Collapse Why do more dogs get sick in winter? It's not the cold. It's the gut. 80% of your dog's immune system lives in their gut. Winter stress + indoor toxins + reduced sunlight = gut barrier breakdown = immune system failure. Suddenly they're getting infections, hot spots, ear issues "for no reason." What doesn't work: Antibiotics that destroy what's left of their gut health. 😭 What actually works: Rebuild the gut lining. Support the microbiome. Strengthen immunity from the INSIDE. Prevention beats emergency response every single time. The Pattern You're Missing: 🧐

I have noticed loose stools but have also introduced cheese as treats so am going to monitor this.
Cheese
Many people say use cheese for training treats but when I try, Leif has a badly upset tummy after. Is it coincidence? I don’t know. I’m reluctant to try again but he loves it. He does have a very sensitive tummy. Seems possibly cottage cheese and eggs too. I cut out pork as that upset him too. Do you suggest trying one at a time again please? I did have an allergy test which showed a few different grasses too.

@Stevi-Lee Alver as a pup he was fed raw and royal canine but after a while he kept getting ear irritations, these would go to rashes. So I cut everything out and put him on vegan diet to clear his system and started again. I just hate to trial things knowing it may give him tummy ache or irritated ears. I asked vet about allergy tests and they refused saying trial and error is best🤷‍♀️

@Stevi-Lee Alver I brought a vegan brand called Omni. He loved it and so did my cocker spaniel. Leif is super picky so goes off food after a while so had to keep changing it up which made it difficult. By the way, I am not saying feed a vegan diet, I am not trained or experienced in this. This was just my experience. I’m currently reading the forever dog which is about a dogs food intake, very insightful but lots to take in. 😊
Tyson's story! Little emotional...Sorry!
His name was Tyson, and if you've ever owned an English Bulldog, you know exactly why. He did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. No apologies. Pure bully energy.🐂 But about 3 years ago, I noticed something that broke my me and my wife's heart...🥲 He'd barely touch his food. When he did eat, he'd have digestive issues for hours. His breathing (already rough because, well... bulldog) was getting worse. And the vet visits? Every other month for something new. I kept switching foods. Tried every "premium" brand out there. Spent a fortune on medications. Nothing changed.🤯 Then I started learning about REAL nutrition. Not what the bag said. Not what was "vet recommended." What bulldogs actually NEED.😱 Within 2 weeks of changing his diet, Tyson was eating like he actually enjoyed it. His breathing improved. The constant vet visits slowed down. He had more energy to be his stubborn, lovable self. We had 2 more really good years together before pneumonia took him last year.🎯 I think about him every single day. And I'm so grateful I figured out the nutrition piece when I did, because those last couple years? He was HAPPY. Thriving. Being the boss he always was.😭 😭 That's why I'm so passionate about this stuff now. Because nutrition isn't just about "health." It's about giving them the best life possible while we have them.😍 If your dog is struggling with eating or constant health issues... don't wait. They deserve better. And so do you.😇 Thanks for reading! What's your dog's name and how long have you been blessed to have them?? Drop it below. 👇

🚨 5 "Safe" Holiday Foods That Are Secretly DESTROYING Your Dog's Gut!
Most dog parents have NO IDEA they're doing this... You think you're being careful. You've heard about chocolate and grapes. You're watching the dessert table like a hawk. 👀 But here's what NOBODY talks about: 😱 ✅ 1. Turkey Skin & Fat Trimmings "Just a little won't hurt" → Pancreatitis within 24 hours. Your dog's gut goes into complete chaos. One ER visit costs more than your entire Christmas dinner. ✅ 2. Ham (Yes, Even "Plain" Ham) The sodium content alone triggers inflammation that takes WEEKS to recover from. Your dog's gut lining? Getting shredded with every "harmless" bite. ✅ 3. Those "Healthy" Veggie Sides Green bean casserole. Mashed potatoes. Stuffing. ALL loaded with onion and garlic powder. Both are TOXIC and attack your dog's red blood cells while destroying gut bacteria. ✅ 4. Sugar-Free ANYTHING Xylitol is in everything now - pies, cookies, even some gravies. It doesn't just cause liver failure. It annihilates the gut microbiome FIRST. ✅ 5. Cooked Bones (The "Natural" Treat) Raw bones? Different story. COOKED bones? They splinter, puncture, and cause internal bleeding. But the gut damage happens even before the puncture - sharp fragments scraping the intestinal lining the entire way through. The Real Problem? 🤯 It's not just about avoiding these foods...It's that ONE exposure can trigger a gut health spiral that lasts months. Chronic diarrhea. Mystery allergies. Constant itching. Anxiety that appears "out of nowhere." 🥲 Most vets never connect it back to that ONE holiday meal. Your move: Screenshot this. Share it with every dog parent you know. One share could save a dog's life (and a family's Christmas). 😇 What "safe" food shocked you the most? Drop a 👀 below. What "treat" do you stick to during the Holidays? Help us out with some "safe" suggestions!

We don’t have these as vegan but who would have thought, ham yes but turkey! I know my mum always did the dogs their own Christmas dinner with turkey skin included.

I have pet insurance, this was in my contract when I brought my puppy and I think it’s a really important thing to consider. Thankfully I have not needed anything so far but it’s there incase. Many years ago I did use insurance for my Newfie and it was how I managed. Without it we may have lost her.

What to say? Leif is my first Northern Inuit. Named after Leif Erikson, the Greenlander explorer, it’s about exploring for us.
