Should Skool Limit How Many Communities We Can Join?
There was a post talking about how many groups are too many and @Sam Ovens made this comment. Wanted to make this post for the discussion to not get lost in the threads, because this is a very important topic to me. So much in fact that this is the first time I've wondered if I need to hope for a Skool 2.0... which is INSANE to me, because I really truly LOVE Skool. That was just an initial reactionary feeling and I will not be leaving (duh), but if I was able to feel that then I think I need to bring this conversation up and why I don't like it. Because I thoroughly think through all the ways it would impact me and others here. Here's why I don't want this: - In my clarity calls, I actually help them and join their community to see it all. For me to really help, I need to be able to do it on my own. Not via screen share. That would consume so much of my time having to do that way. I also don't want to join their community just to leave it. The insight I can give even if they don't join my paid is important to me. - When someone uses my affiliate link, I often join their community to help ensure their flow is good for what they want to do or to encourage them. If a limit is in place, then I have to leave them. I would have to explain to them why I'm leaving, but staying in others. Hurt feelings that just are because I'm limited and a potential loss of $39/m for the lifetime of the community, because I had to choose. - The fun communities like a calligraphy one I just joined would now be something I just don't have space for, but I was excited to start learning in some down time and maybe use it as a bonding thing for me to do with my 7yr old niece. What a cool skill to have. (but not worth being 1 of my 50) - This would increase churn across the platform. - This would decrease conversion, because now I have to think is this community one I'm willing to take as 1 of my 50. - This would pretty much kill the idea of Free to Paid, because the engagement would drastically drop when your most active people join from your free into your paid. They'd likely leave the free. (If you feel like they're already less active, then that's an issue of communication and the value of your free... stop treating communities like just funnels.) - Networking would decrease which would suck with affiliates coming out. I would like to assume that you have to be a member of a community to be an affiliate. This would mean even if I have 50+ communities I love and would recommend, I can only affiliate for 50. - Oh and more spammers would be able to get into my community, because I wouldn't see their community contributions.
