Update 🔥
Just dropped the new Mixing Lesson + Fixing a Mix video. Unfortunately, Justus — I tried, but wasn’t able to dive into your mix this week. There was a bass line missing, and several tracks were grouped together. If things are already consolidated into a bus or group, there’s not much I can change. When you send mixes, make sure each layer of the idea is tracked out on its own track (no buses or grouped stems). I really like this format — it’s a fun way to break things down and show how I approach mixing. If you want me to take a shot at fixing your mix, send the stems to dillygotitbumpin@gmail.com. (Justus, feel free to re-send that idea organized with each track separate.) Last week’s livestream will be posted tomorrow, one more lesson is coming later this week, and the next live session is Friday at 1PM MST for whoever can make it.

Dang bro I sent it to you with no clipper on 😂 I usually have one cranked up on the master. Super great stuff. I'm confused on the bit about reverbs though (probably a dumb question): Are you saying we should aim to not use reverbs/plugins in our beats, or just not as part of the mixing process? Appreciate the feedback!
Mixing lesson this week
Hey guys! I’m doing a mixing lesson this week. Mixing is simple but I think it's the #1 thing that separates something that sounds ameteur vs something that sounds pro. It lets you use the same samples as other people, yet your's sounds 10x more powerful if your mixes are on point. I'm going to do the standard lesson, but I also wanted to take your guy's mixes and see if I can take them to the next level and talk about what I'd do differently. If that sounds good, send your stems to dillygotitbumpin@gmail.com and I’ll break them down in the lesson 🔥

Just saw this now, sent them in.
Second Lesson + Livestream Time tomorrow
Hey guys finishing up the second lesson tomorrow morning, it's about bass lines & bass sound selection and how to use them to level up your production. It's super dope, apologize for the wait, but it'll be worth it. Also since we have two active people right now, let me know what time works best for the livestream. Tomorrow around 2pm mst is good for me or I could do sunday morning, around 8-10am MST. Just let me know what works best!

We are so back. My biggest takeaway is the importance of connecting your music to a relatable emotion/experience. I think that's something I struggle with when making trap beats because they don't have that "soul" that a lot of other genres do. But after watching this, I realized that everyone has that song that makes them push the gas pedal down a little harder late at night. I can strive to make my music speak to that feeling. That concept also speaks to branding as well. The greatest brands are associated with an emotion or a feeling, and producer brands should be no different. Great lesson man, will definitely be more mindful of this going forward!
Welcome!
I’ll be dropping two new production lessons every week — one on Monday and one on Wednesday. Then on Friday at 1PM MST, we’ll go live. That’s where I'll answer questions, go over concepts, all in real time. You don’t need to be live for the lessons — only for Friday’s stream if you want to join in. 💡 Note: The live stream is for premium members only, except for the first week (free trials can join this one). If you just joined, drop a quick intro below 👇 Say your name, where you’re from, what you’re working on, and what you’re trying to improve in your production right now. Glad you’re here — excited to get better together 🎹🔥

What's up! I'm Hunter. I'm from Springfield, Missouri and am currently working on starting a type beat channel. The things I'm trying to improve most in my production right now are: 1. Finding a consistent sound 2. Producing at a high level quickly Super excited to meet everyone here and get better together. Glad to be back in a Dilly community again as well!
