Your Mitochondria: The Tiny Powerhouses That Keep You Alive
Every single cell in your body depends on tiny structures called mitochondria to create energy. They take the nutrients you eat and the oxygen you breathe and convert them into ATP—the fuel that powers everything from your heartbeat and brain function to muscle movement, healing, and healthy aging. As we get older, our mitochondria naturally become less efficient. This can contribute to fatigue, slower recovery, brain fog, decreased metabolism, and many of the signs we associate with aging. The good news is that healthy lifestyle choices—along with emerging research into mitochondrial-supporting compounds—may help improve mitochondrial function. Understanding your mitochondria is the first step toward understanding how your body creates energy, repairs itself, and supports longevity. When you take care of your mitochondria, you're taking care of every cell in your body.
