Thailand ends Visa-free travel for the Americas
This was just sent to me. Please be sure to plan accordingly as well as keep an eye out for any changes (as things can change quickly with the Thai government). Pilot program to launch Dec 2024 and be fully operational by June 2025. ETA is just an authorization to travel, simple and easy, vert similar to ESTA to enter the USA, nothing to worry about, it's probably to keep a tighter control on who comes and goes.
getting rid of what you own...
I am in the process of getting rid of a lot of things I own and I am finding it difficult. Some stuff are easy to get rid of, but others...idk. I've done this before. Three years ago I moved from a 3 and a half to a studio apartment. So I don't have that much, but still, i am not sure why I find it hard right now. I really envy people who travel light. I really like the idea of minimalism, but I think there is some psychological clean up to do as well. Anyone went through this? how did you get rid of most of your stuff? Did you keep it to a minimum after or did you re-collect stuff in your new place?

I currently have everything I own in a 20kg luggage and a backpack, the backpack is needed because of my work laptop. I was always like this though, I have a deep pleasure that comes from getting rid off stuff, it's kinda funny sometimes, but most people aren't like me, give yourself time, think hard of you need each item or not, things can be bought if needed.
Buying the ticket before applying for the DTV, yes or no?
After chatting to a few people, it seems pretty much everyone did buy the ticket, however it doesn't look like this is a requirement on itself, as they are not requesting any document, only the flight number which can be found anywhere and is open to the public, what are your thoughts? I believe it's sound to not buy it before applying in case visa is rejected and you don't waste money (just in case).

@Simon Orgulan well, I have a passport that gives 90 days, and with one run I can get 90 more, the point is that I have the feeling they may start shooting these people down, especially on repeating offenders like myself
Destination Thailand Visa or Digital Nomad Visa as it's being called?
I'm curious to know has anyone here successfully applied for this visa?

@Tim Coulter Just curious, did they ask you to present return flight and accommodation? Also, how was the experience with the UK embassy? Congratulations on your DTV visa.

@Tim Coulter Alright that sounds cool, I think a lot of people are sending the pdf with flight and accommodation, which is not required. Thanks.
Hello folks!
Hello everyone. I'm currently in the process of selling everything I own in the US and headed to Thailand. I'm looking forward to exploring SE Asia and finding a spot for my home base. I'm excited about getting rid of all the crap I've accumulated and exploring whole new worlds and cultures. I hope to meet some of you soon. I'm aiming to be in Thailand by mid-November...ideally earlier to avoid the US election shitshow LOL
