At Well-Able Platforms, we're working towards a world where mobility is limitless, advocating for accessible charging stations for everyone. As a wheelchair user for the past 33 years, I have experienced the struggles firsthand. I know what it feels like to have your battery die with no one to call for help. I once waited for 3 hours in the cold for assistance. I understand that I am not alone in this; there are 3.3 million wheelchair users who share similar experiences. This is why I founded Well-Able Platforms. Our mission is to ensure that every rider can rely on infrastructure when they need it. Unfortunately, powered mobility users cannot make that same assumption, and we are here to change that. The challenge we face is the lack of charging infrastructure, which often leaves users stranded or discouraged from venturing out, ultimately limiting their independence and freedom. FYI - a few key updates on AI. I'm happy to see the government creating additional protection for kids. - The U.S. Commerce Department lifted export controls on Anthropic's most powerful AI models, Claude Mythos 5 and Fable 5, after the company agreed to collaborate on safety standards and proactively report malicious activity. The reversal ends a two-week restriction that had cut off foreign access to two of the most capable models released to date, and signals a more transactional approach to frontier AI oversight. [^1] - The United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union announced a new "AI for Good" Global Commission, bringing together top tech CEOs and heads of state to forge global AI rules. The commission holds its first meeting July 8 in Geneva, immediately after a UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance on July 6-7, marking the most prominent multilateral AI governance push of the year. [^2] - The House passed the bipartisan KIDS Act package, setting up Senate debate on youth privacy, platform design, and AI chatbot safety. The bill would expand COPPA protections to age 17, impose "should have known" liability standards, restrict individual-specific advertising to minors, and create new compliance obligations for AI chatbot interactions and recommendation systems. [^3] - Security experts warned that the Trump administration's flip-flopping on AI export controls may have given China a window to advance its own AI capabilities, particularly in cyber-relevant domains. As Chinese labs announced new models comparable to U.S. frontier systems, analysts argued that inconsistent U.S. policy is undermining America's competitive position. [^4] - A new federal lawsuit accused major gas companies and AI pricing-software vendor Kalibrate of using algorithms to collude on California pump prices, testing the state's updated antitrust law that treats algorithm-driven common pricing as potential price-fixing. The case will be a key test of how AI-driven coordination is treated under competition law, with statewide gas prices averaging $5.46 per gallon. [^5]
