My opinion on AI content
I'm sure that everyone has seen the countless implications of AI in content generation, AI voiceovers, Images, short videos, etc. It's clearly something that is increasingly becoming more and more mainstream, but most of the times feels soo empty. It basically helps great creators become better and less experienced creators become average. Its great that it allows everyone to make content online right now, custom voiceovers, custom images and videos. But it does raise a question, will it help us become more creative or make us copy cats of each other. How does that relate to us as synthesizers? AI chatbots are basically synthesizing information on a larger scale and are capable of much bigger information input and output. How do we come up with unique insights?

I get what you're saying. it can feel a bit soulless. Maybe the next step in content creation is "human created" content. just to get that soul back. people can feel it. I believe people also appreciate things more if they know someone put effort into it (think about a silly gift you've gotten, but you like it because someone you love has taken a long time to create it)

working full time as a consultant, takes a lot of time, learning a lot. planning to do more synthesizing again next year.
Dear Andrew Kirby..
This is a story so audacious, so over-the-top ridiculous, that it almost doesn't seem real. Heck even I'm still struggling to believe it's real, but for anyone with an open mind, here we go.. I first discovered Andrew in 2020. He was posting videos about productivity and self-help, and I found them incredibly valuable, so I stuck around and subscribed. But soon enough I realized he was selling a cohort program on beating procrastination. This immediately struck a chord with me, not just because it seemed like he could help me with my procrastination, but because he was someone, only about 2 years older than me, who was able to start a successful YouTube channel and launch a successful digital coaching product. To me, Andrew Kirby represented hope. Hope that I wasn't being a silly 19 year old, that young people my age could actually get success in the business space. So I ALSO started a procrastination business (lol). I marketted myself on Facebook and actually got my first few clients! (In my case I was providing less of a permanent solution to the problem, and more so direct accountability haha) However I soon realized the whole "coaching" space definitely wasn't for me. At this point in my life, I was feeling lost, and isolated. Then Andrew released his "Effortless Action Program", a $500 version of his procrastination program that was just a course. I immediately bought and devoured it. Although it wasn't what I was expecting, I was feeling unusually introspective and philosophical afterwards. Upon reflection, it became apparent I wasn't going after my true calling. I realized I was a filmmaker at heart, and it was time to make my inner child happy. With little money and resources, what better way to start, than to just start? I began making YouTube videos (Something I had already been doing as a kid/teenager for fun, it's really crazy It took me so long to understand where I should be working) I started a new channel, and let's just say my first few videos took some.. inspiration from Andrew's content😅

How I hired a 40 hour per week video editor, for free
I hired a full-time video editor this week and I wanted to share my process in case anyone else found it useful. I’m already quite busy running several businesses, and I’m a 3/10 editor at best. I wanted to focus my energy on writing scripts and recording videos for the real estate coaching YT channel I’m launching. So I went looking to hire an editor. I looked at all the usual online suspects and decided to go for hiring from the Philippines. Many reasons for this; good English, good work ethic, high level of education, at a cost of 10-25% of the cost in the US. I’ve previously employed around 20 people from the Philippines: FB/Google ads, admin assistants, and even bookkeepers with masters in accounting. Some were with me for as long as 10 years. I’ll include a link to the job board I use below. I used a 4-step process that took 1 week to find several qualified individuals. I hired 1 for $1,200 per month for 40 hours per week (but got it to zero with Step 5). 1. Post a job (screenshot of post: https://www.screencast.com/t/2RjjmrD6oEjH) 2. Received 37 applicants. Review applicants, review their bio, review their portfolios, etc., and then invite all qualified applicants to interview via a test video edit. I gave them the raw footage for a 10-minute talking head video, with stop/starts, bad lighting, mistakes, with all the warts. I provided them with a few samples of creators I liked and minimal direction. I wanted to test their creativity and editing skills. I also offered to pay them, in advance, for 3 hours at the hourly rate from their profile. I did this to show that I’m serious and not looking for free work. I got 7 to agree to a test edit (6 completed the test, 1 was a no-show, I lost $25 on that one…). The most I paid was $30, the average was $23. (screenshot of invite: https://www.screencast.com/t/ks5ShMvFr) 3. Review the test video edits and invite the top 3 editors for 2nd round of test video edits. For the 2nd round, I wanted to test how well they understood & followed instructions, how well we could collaborate together, and if they were open or resistant to criticism. This was a very details list of instructions. (screenshot of instructions: https://www.screencast.com/t/1FSzECcpvO)

Don't major in minors when it comes to YouTube...
I initially posted this as a reply to @Ali Alqaraghuli on this thread but felt it would help a few more people here too. The conversation was around where you should place your focus when it comes to YouTube. After coaching 1000's of YouTube channel owners on this I have been able to see the common patterns and mistakes most of them make. One of the biggest is spending time, energy, money, focus, attention on things that don't really matter. aka 'Majoring in the minors'. Let me explain. A lot of content creators worry about their editing, their audio, their tags, descriptions, about section, branding etc. All of this stuff is important. I'm not denying that. You need that shit dialled in but it's not THE most important. When it comes to YouTube it doesn't matter what's in the video if nobody clicks on it in the first place 🤷‍♂️ Obviously, if the product (video) isn't great then the algorithm won't push the video anyway but I do think far too many people major in the minors when it comes to what's actually important to get your content out there. I have spoken with many individuals who have fairly average editing but their videos exploded on YouTube simply because they nailed the following 3 keys to 'virality' on YouTube: - Video title - Thumbnail - I'll cover number 3 in a minute, keep reading. There's a shit tonne of psychology that goes into writing a solid title & hook and creating a thumbnail that makes people want to click. When I discovered this I switched my thumbnail designer from $5 per tn to $50 and it's made a massive difference in terms of impressions/views/revenue. I want to share an analogy that I use with students.... I want you to think of your YouTube channel as a shop on a high street (that's if you still shop on high streets lol maybe you order 100% of everything you need on amazon prime 🤪) If you were walking down a high street and you saw a banged up broken shop with smashed windows and a door hanging off it's hinges, would you go inside to have a look around?

@Callum Rylance haha same here, time to level up. I challenge both of us to go all in on title and thumbnail for the next 3 videos we upload!
