What are some of the best moments you've had playing RPGs? I would love to hear about your critical successes, epic failures, or weird off the wall unexpected outcomes.
@Robb Marklein the island that solo player found was an unknown prison island connected to the wizard's school (that was part of the wizards' back story). So the wizard ended up using a combo of sending to get some info from that player and scrying I think. And then used her school's teleporting circle and local island maps and investigation to find the right spot. I believe they had to do it as secretly and quick as possible because she did not leave the school in good terms. It was great cause that solo player knew nothing about the backstory of the wizard, so he tried to name drop her to the local guards. They obviously didnt know anything, but once they got debriefed by the boss... things unfolded in the background. There was definitely some homebrewing and skill checks along the way to make it happen. I allowed some spell rule bending with the tradeoff that lots hidden concequences were triggered in the background related the Wizard's background story and main quest
Are you (or your players) more likely to end an adventuring day having saved their resources and not used them all or blown through all their resources and ending the day on fumes?
Has anyone thought about making an Arttificer that becomes a Lich? I think a cool Villian idea would be a Lich Artificer that uses their Steel Defender(Battle Smith) or their Armor(Armorer) for their body, while their Phsylactery is their Homonculus(so it can move and stay hidden)
Just started a new campaign and the main villian who is not yet antagonistic to the party is a royal officer who is in charge if finding and neutralizing powerful magic items. And he obviously has his own agenda. This is a perfect contiuation of where to go with this npc. Love it!
