From Arch Linux to MacOS to Arch Linux
Mischa's journey back to Arch Linux seems right as Arch Linux stands out with its minimalist and highly customizable approach, offering significant advantages over macOS, especially, for users who value control and performance. Since my exposure to Arch's "build-it-yourself" philosophy following along with Mischa's videos (although I set up with EndeavourOS to save time). I was still able to tailor my set up to my exact specifications, leading to a lean, efficient setup where every component is chosen for purpose rather than bundled for convenience. This level of customization not only optimizes system performance but also educates me on Linux internals, fostering a deeper understanding of Linux computing. To be honest while macOS provides a sleek, integrated user experience well-suited for creatives and those within Apple's ecosystem, it locks users into a more controlled (proprietary) environment with less room for personalization. Arch Linux, with its rolling-release model, ensured me I would be always at the cutting edge of software updates without the wait, unlike macOS's periodic major updates. Although Arch demands more initial setup time and technical know-how, the payoff is a system that's as powerful, secure, and tailored as possible, making it the superior choice for those willing to invest in their computing experience. I am glad Mischa is back on Arch Linux, and his work flow of Dev Pods with LazyVim is a powerful combination.

My company is starting to open up to Linux-based devices for daily use. Currently, we are given the option of Windows or MacOS. I started with Windows, but moved tot he MacBook after my initial laptop died. My personal laptop is Linux, and has been for many years now (currently using PopOS.) the ONE thing that I love about MacOS that you can’t get anywhere else is the iMessage support. Being able to quickly respond to texts to my wife or family from my laptop has actually improved my productivity. This is because I’m no longer grabbing my phone to respond. Grabbing my phone leads to higher likelihood of Doom-scrolling social media for 15-20-30 minutes.

Hello! Excited to learn DevOps here. While I don’t work in DevOps currently, I’ve wiggled my way into shadowing our DevOps team to learn all I can. My next main goal is Kubernetes. I initially found Mischa when looking to improve my organization and create a “second brain.” Now I’ve implemented PARA, read both books by Tiago Forte, and built a second brain, completely accessible from any command line I can get my fingers on (and my phone!) Hoping to have the same success with Kubernetes.

@Viktor Zhabskyi Go is by far my favorite language. I tried python several times and just couldn’t get it, and then Go was recommended to me. It just clicked for me. And now I’m revisiting Python and it’s all coming to me so much easier.
