Q&A nr 3
Thank you guys for sticking yesterday for so long! We went little bit off the rails on confidence building and reactivity lol

Another attempt to activate Rocky
In this video, I’m again trying to activate Rocky while taking the advice into account. When I take hold of his collar, he immediately releases the toy, so at one point I allow him to grab the toy without a marker, and later I reinforce holding even while I’m holding his collar. He continues to try to keep a bit of distance and offers backward movement, whereas I would like him to be more active / to bark closer to me. In any case, this attempt feels slightly better to me than the previous one 🙂

Few tips to make it even better. 1) start with at least one rep without the noise exact the same way like you will do with the noise. Take a note of the speed/enthusiasm on the way back to you. 2) when adding the noise we want the same speed/enthusiasm on the way back to us. As we go with repetitions that should go up. VERY IMPORTANT- good moment is when the dog speeds up when we are adding the noise! 3) for at least couple of sessions noise always stops as soon dog is getting to us- The dog is turning it OFF. It has to be really black and white therefore we need something that we can control- might be hard to run with the bottle rattling therefore I would try to throw treats and get my dog to chase rrather than run away. 4) if we add intensity of the sound eg. rattle stronger noise can go off even earlier, eg. as soon as the dog will move towards us. 5) we want to feed longer before send the dog away again-or throw some bits on the ground for scatter feed. that will let our dog recover before the next rep. 6) do 4-5 reps and take a break. Give at least 6 sessions before adding duration of exposure. When we do that lower the intensity of sound
