Hello all. I'm Katy (she/her) and I'm one half of DEAD GOOD, an arts-based social enterprise, which I run with my sister, Lindsey. We're both based in the UK, but I live in Sunderland on the North East coast of England. I used to be an academic. I researched and taught in universities for 20 years, with specialisms in social justice, participatory methodologies and creative public engagement. I am now a community death educator/activist and a creative death & grief worker. I'm a passionate advocate for natural burial and nature-based rituals. And I would LOVE to be part of a cooperative that buys a piece of land and offers low-cost (non-profit) natural burials in the future. My biggest struggle at the moment is lack of time and lack of capacity, and ultimately, avoiding burnout. I need to get better at saying 'no', or at least 'not now'. Sometimes it's hard to keep the bigger picture in mind and not get consumed by daily priorities. I feel a death futures mood board coming on! Really excited to be part of this community!
