A group called Northern Lights just won the UK a cappella championship for the fourth year in a row.
That name hit me differently than it probably hit you. ;-) I also sang with the Toronto Northern Lights. Different country, different style, different era. Same name. Same relentless pursuit of something most people don't understand. Dude... listen to 6:10 holllyyyyyy! Durham University's Northern Lights just dominated the ICCA UK Finals at the New Wimbledon Theatre — fourth consecutive championship, sixth overall. In a competition full of talented collegiate groups, they keep showing up and they keep winning. Now they head to the World Finals in New York on April 25. Whoa! Where to start? The singers, the arrangement, the choreo, the art direction?! So sophisticated! Unlike my quartet, the Frozen Pipes. We have two guys that are 6'6" (what's that in centimeters?). What we lacked in talent, we made up in leg wrestling!

Thank you for inviting me, Denis! One of my fondest memories was meeting you at a BHS marketing forum and singing tags with you - what an awesome lead and so knowledgeable! I am emeritus with the Vocal Majority but keep my dues going with them I spent 8 years with the Vocal Majority when we were caring for my wife's dad who had dementia. I flew back and forth to Anchorage where my business is. After he passed away in 2017, we took over his retirement home and fixed it up that's located at the very southern tip of Texas. We snowbird although I just returned from Anchorage as I still have business there and have a radio show covering the Fur Rondy (a cabin fever reliever in Anchorage) and the Iditarod - a sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, AK. We're heading back up and will be in Anchorage in May. I sing with the Midnight Sons chorus in Anchorage - a small, but fun chorus with a very good director, Phil Cheasebro. More on that in another post. Again, thank you for inviting me and looking forward to learning about others in this forum!
