🎁 A beautiful thrifty Christmas idea you might love: FUROSHIKI ✨
(And yes — you can do this entirely with thrifted scarves or fabric!) Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese way of wrapping gifts using cloth instead of paper. It's simple, elegant, and honestly… kind of magical and sustainable. But here’s the best part for us thrifters: 👉 You can find beautiful scarves, vintage fabrics, bandanas, tablecloths, and even linen napkins in thrift stores for very little. Wrap your gift in it… and the wrap becomes part of the gift. 💛 Why Furoshiki feels perfect for Christmas: • It looks expensive even when it’s not • Zero waste — no paper, tape, or plastic • Every gift looks unique and thoughtful • Works for ANY shape: books, jars, wine, odd-shaped items • You can reuse the cloth again and again • It feels intentional — like you care A few lovely wrap ideas: 🎀 Vintage silk scarf → wrap small jewellery or perfume 🎀 Chunky knitted scarf → wrap books or cosy gifts 🎀 Cotton bandana → perfect for stocking fillers 🎀 Table napkin → wrap kitchen gifts or ornaments 🎀 Lightweight thrifted fabric → huge gifts, soft toys, clothes Furoshiki looks fancy, but the basics are super simple — and all you need is a square piece of fabric (a thrifted scarf works perfectly!). Here's an easy wrapping style anyone can do: The Basic Square Wrap (Perfect for books, boxes, small gifts) 1. Lay your scarf flat like a diamond (point facing you). 2. Place the gift in the centre. 3. Fold the top and bottom corners over the gift. 4. Bring the left and right corners to the centre and tie a knot. 5. Adjust the fabric so it looks neat and full. What’s the most beautiful fabric or scarf you’ve ever found thrifting? Let’s make Christmas gorgeous this year. ✨🎄💛

I've done this before! Because I'm a fabric hoarder. It does look beautiful under the tree.
🌼 A Quick Tip for New Members
Some of you are brand new to Skool, so I wanted to share a quick, helpful thing: Skool isn’t just this one group... it’s full of amazing communities you can browse and join, just like little neighbourhoods. You’ll find groups for: 🧶 Crafting 🍰 Baking 🌱 Gardening 📚 Books 🧩 Hobbies ⚽️ Sports 🤖 AI 👟 Fitness 🐾 Pets…and literally hundreds more. I’ve found Skool groups to be much friendlier and more positive than a lot of other places online. It’s been such a refreshing change. That's why I thought I'd encourage you to have a look around. If you click Discovery at the top, you can wander through and explore. It’s a lovely way to meet people, find your tribe and enjoy new interests at your own pace. And of course… you’re always welcome here too. 🌼 Some of our Thrift Insider members also have their own groups shout out to @Julianne Anderson @Yvonne Carter to name just a couple ...you might want to start your own group too - its a very big place to explore ...good luck Jo x

Todays best find ...
I found a pile of interesting clothes but for me this one is the treasure of the day ...needs a bit of a clean but I've done some quick research and I think its early 1900s Sad Iron by Enterprise USA ...complete with trivet Bonus points for anyone who knows why it was called a Sad iron ... ? Anyway it was a whole $8 at the Salvation Army 🥳

What a BARGAIN! I've got a few cast iron irons. My mom taught me a trick to actually get some use from them. I wrap in aluminum foil and use to press food when I'm cooking (when you need something flattened). Great any time you need some weight on something. Useful and decorative. I don't have a fancy one with a trivet though. Nice find!!!
