Start small: Debs Gordon-Williams on micro habits and feeling like yourself again 💛
New in the Genius Series: my conversation with Debs Gordon-Williams. Debs began her career as a psychiatric nurse, then lived abroad, worked with charities and took early retirement. Now she's building a natural wellness business and a six-week online course for women who are feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and a little lost. What struck me is how kind her approach is. No 10-day plan that leaves you feeling guilty when you can't keep it up. Instead, Debs shares micro habits: tiny changes you attach to something you already do, like a glass of water before each meal. And if the first thing you try doesn't work, you don't give up. You give yourself permission to attach it to something else. My takeaway for you: you don't need to be an expert to help people, and you don't need to change everything at once. As Debs put it, it's about being someone who's living through it, doing small things that make a difference, and wanting to share them Watch her short interview and let me know your thoughts :)

Space to See the True Nature of Life
Mindset coach Michael Watson spent five years as the lead in Jersey Boys, but despite the success, he struggled with anxiety and negative self-talk. His turning point? Daily affirmations like: - "You are good enough." - "You’re going to have an amazing day." (or my version Today WAS a great day) Changing his self-talk helped him shift his mindset, improve his performances, and transform his life. Now I'm not suggesting you have to take up daily affirmations if it's not your thing but I'm wondering about how much that negative self talk fills our heads and stops us from hearing the genius within? For instance, have you noticed how you deflect a compliment? Here's my invitation: when you receive a compliment, simply say "thank you" and leave it at that. Small changes can lead to big shifts in the space in our heads. p.s art from someone I met on Linked In who created this Soul Piece for me ❤️‍🔥

It's right for everyone...your head can create a mine field sometimes.
Committing to a goal with a way out isn’t really committing.
But sometimes, that "way out" helps us get started when the goal seems too big. I saw a tattoo in Spain that said: "Some people want it to happen, Some people wish it would happen, Others make it happen." It reminded me again that things don’t happen just by wishing for them. They happen by showing up and doing the work, even when it’s tough. I’ve definitely learned this through my journey—whether it was starting a business, doing a sprint or reigniting my health desires. None of it happened by waiting for the perfect moment; it happened by taking small, consistent actions every day, even when it didn’t feel like much. The key is to break big goals down into smaller steps. Every win, no matter how small, adds up over time. So today, I'm encouraging you to reflect on your goal or desire: Is the way out something you need to feel comfortable enough to get started, or is it holding you back from truly committing? For me, there’s no exit strategy. I show up each day because I know small actions lead to big results, and I’m here to support you through the same process. Set big goals. Break them down. Take action today. Love and activation, MamaJ

I do have some mighty hefty goals, written on sticky on my desk. It gives me the drive I need every day to keep taking action. I'll get there!

It’s been a very mixed few days for me. Yes there’s been lots of love and insight and incredible connections. I mean super incredible. As I sit enjoying my coffee, playing hooky (as Elsie Spittle used to say) in the warmth of the Spanish sun , feelings of gratitude light up every cell in my body. And I as I percolate on what I’m hearing, I realise that the gratitude is not just for the feelings I like. But also for the feelings I haven’t been too keen on. The client that cancelled with ill will - that email hurt. Stung for a while. Until I found my humility. And then the ‘honest’ conversation a peer felt they needed to have with me. Old feelings of lack, of being scared, of wanting to defend. Arose and caught in my throat. Again humility restored me. Owning my part without falling on my sword ⚔️ It doesn’t mean those feelings left my body - the cells felt the thinking they came from. But something that’s been present within in me is that ‘this is growth’ this is the edge of what I know, this is the space from which creativity arises. From where I’m called to step into my power in a stronger, more grounded way. This is what it means to be in the unknown. It’s not meant to be comfortable. And then the story of the spider. 🕷️ Barb Patterson, an incredible speaker, entrepreneur and human being, told of the spider who is not born with all the silk thread inside of them. They have to mobilise and move. They first have to mobilise the elements within them to create the chemical changes. They then have to move and physically pull the liquid out of their body to align the molecules into a solid thread. I saw that the painful feelings, the doubt, the insecurity, the imposter syndrome - they are the chemicals that we can use to poison ourselves and shut down. Or we can use to mobilise our unique abilities to turn pain into silk. Once mobilised we then have to move to allow the thread to come out of us. It doesn’t do anything kept inside. In my story that could mean an appropriate response to an email that serves the client and me. An apology to someone who has felt hurt by my behaviour and an opportunity for a reset. A surrender to the feelings without attachment. Not necessarily easy things to do. But from within humility there is no vulnerability.

I love this! Humility is under-rated these days. Very inspiring. For each of us to find that unique ability and know its value. You are special.
Proud MamaJ!
I’m very proud of @Louise Knighton who has written her first ever business case. She definitely experienced growing pains and uncomfortably but she kept resetting. Asked for support. Asked questions and went again. She even enjoyed it in the end. Here’s her email from last night: “Thank you for your help with this. Initially it was hard but I really enjoyed completing the business case.. 🙂 Louise“ Please join in and send Louise some love 💕
