Free AI for Nonprofits if you use Googe Suite
This is good news if you run your nonprofit on the google suite. Google introduced Gemini 3 on November 18, which it says is the best to date. Gemini 3 Pro is already available inside Workspace, including for organizations using the free Workspace for Nonprofits plan. Here’s what’s new. Gemini 3 is going to work closer to it's best competitors like ChatGPT and Claude. It can review complex grant guidelines, summarize long board packets, and interpret mixed formats with more clarity than previous versions. Google says the model now gives responses that are smart, concise, and direct, reducing filler and focusing on insight. Here’s why it matters. It's now free for most nonprofits. This means your team can analyze documents, create marekting, or prepare reports with far less time spent switching tools. If you want to try it out, open the Gemini app inside Workspace and select “Thinking” from the model menu to run Gemini 3 Pro. Google noted that a deeper reasoning mode will be added soon for organizations on paid tiers.

It's free??? We looked into getting Gemini (without free-plan rate limits) a few months ago & the best we found was paying $4.20/user/month for all workspace users (including suspended) ... but it was still a lot better than $20/user/month for ChatGPT or Claude. Can nonprofits really get full Gemini now for free?!?!?!

I have been volunteering heavily with an organization of 30 people that has been switching over from ChatGPT to Gemini. I've used Gemini almost exclusively since April, so I do have some informed opinions about differences. About the cost: Gemini is free, but there is a 5-chat-per-day rate limit, which is what I had run into previously. Our organization upgraded our Google for Nonprofits to their business standard, and we are paying $4.20 per month per user. @Andy Rubinson - I'd be happy to connect and share my more detailed thoughts that I want to write up someday, but never seem to get around to. The short version of my experiences: - The rate limits of free Gemini were too restrictive - Upgrading to Business Standard was a bit of a pin (Google and Microsoft just have tooooooooo many types of licenses!), but in the end worked - That said, we had to upgrade the full Workspace -- i.e., pay for ALL Workspace users, including suspended ones -- we spent a bit of time deleting a bunch of old users, which just required us to do some communicating about which accounts we really needed. Now that we're in Gemini, I'd say that our experience is so-so. The Gemini model, particularly with Gemini 3, is certainly comparable to GPT-5. However, the ChatGPT app is far superior to the Gemini app. I miss Projects. Their ability to create and share custom GPTs is much better. The memory across chats is great and doesn't exist in Gemini. But, honestly, none of those was worth spending a whole bunch more money.
Phrases to avoid
@Kevin Hardin - I have this vague recollection that some time ago you shared a Google Doc that had a bunch of phrases to avoid (maybe to avoid sounding like AI, or maybe to reduce hallucinations??). Does that ring a bell? And if so, could you share it again?
Today's AI Session is going to be wild (Today at 1:00pm ET) - Link to Join
Thanks to everyone who just finished the first cohort of the AI Quick-Start series. The feedback was incredible, and we'll be starting the series again next week. (If you missed it, you can register here) But in today's session, we're jumping into some very cool stuff. Today at 1pm Eastern, I'm going to show some of the most advanced work I'm doing - AI agents. Instead of just telling an AI assistant what to do on one-off projects, they work automatically on your behalf. AI agents are the next major step forward in this technology and they are here now! We'll show you how they can automate workflows inside your nonprofit and let you focus on what you care about most, helping your people. I just had a conversation with another AI consultant and we talked about the fact that the time for just fiddling around with with AI is over - the time for starting implementation is now. We'll also keep talking about the philosophy of AI, and what this fast-moving technology means for the world and your organization. As a bonus, I'm launching an exclusive community referral program just for those who attend. (Earn 30% of membership of new members your refer forever) Let's navigate this new weird world together. Join us today at 1pm Eastern and take your next step forward. Here's the link to join at 1:00pm Link to join: AI For Social Good Community Call at 1:00pmET

What are AI Assistants and how to build your own (Today at 1:00pm ET)
Hey everyone, Today at 1:00pm ET (in 15 minutes). I'm training the next part in the AI quick-start series. It's going to be all about AI assistants within ChatGPT and how to build your own. This one is going to be really practical and actionable in how to use AI everyday. You don't want to miss it. Hope to see you soon -Kevin Here's the link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85781598919

New AI Quick-Start Guide for nonprofits (Could use your help)
Hey friends, and happy Friday. This week, I spoke at a tech conference for nonprofits. One thing stood out: everyone’s somewhere different on their AI journey. Some folks are curious and just starting. Others are waist-deep in experiments. And a lot of people are asking the same question: How exactly does AI help nonprofits and where do I even begin? So I created a new resource to help folks get started. The AI Quickstart Guide for Nonprofits — a simple guide to help nonprofit teams take their first few steps with AI, without the overwhelm. And I’d love your help. I’m sharing it here with our community first, because your feedback matters. What works? What’s missing? What would you add for someone just getting started? If there’s a story, prompt, or example you think should be included, tell me. If there’s a confusing part, let me know that too. Have a great weekend, and thanks in advance for helping shape something useful. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
