White dial wednesday
Sporting the L&Co. today. Gold case with white dial of course and gold indices at the hour markers. Quartz movement inside. It has a very nice leather band on it also. Purchased overseas this year for $3,392 and it was duty free!! Ok guys before you say I’m crazy and it’s not worth anywhere near that…. Let me explain the rest of the story. First the price. It’s true but, I paid $3,372 for a cruise for 4 people and well I kinda paid $20 for the watch! Gotcha!!! It was bought overseas as I bought it on a sea day somewhere in the Atlantic so technically over the seas. I also got a wallet and business card holder which is what I really wanted for the $20 Ok go ahead and roast me now! Have a great day.

May have found my grail watch
I really like the Grand Seiko watches. I'd prefer one over a Rolex for more than one reason. Look at the finishing on this. Outstanding.

@Warner Smith ok, at first I thought you were kidding when comparing it to Rolex. I then went to a website and saw the grand Seikos and they look amazing!
Getting Back into the Habit
I hadn't worn a watch consistently for years, but since joining the community, I've started doing so. It's amazing how you become aware of other guy's watches when you're out!

@Warren Money lol, I almost did the other day!
Smart Watches?
I bought a Luxe smart watch a few years ago. I believe it's being phased out now. I'm curious if people include their smart watches as part of their collection?

Evolving Collection
The You Tubers make it sound as if a watch collection is planned. Maybe it is, but not my collection. Phase I. Mine started when I saw the Timex Snoopy playing tennis reissue. I realized I had my old one and when I dug it out, I realized I had a number of old watches. I learned to change batteries and straps. Suddenly, I had a collection. Phase II. The You Tube influence. I added some must have Casios, then I found Ali Express, which was phase IIa (The homage phase). Phase III. The Modification/repair phase. I realized I could get some great deals if I could find watch lots/grab bags and find the gems. Phase IV. I feel that I’m entering this phase now. The purge phase. My homage phase was a lot of fun, but now that I have a Bulova chronograph, I’m not reaching for my Daytona Homage. There seems to be a restored or personal touch watch that out-competes the Pagani Design every single time. Notably missing is a grail watch. For me it’s not so much about seeking a grail, but instead stumbling upon a gem. What other ways do collections evolve? I’m sure everyone here has a unique path.

I like your breakdown Kirk. I remember as a kid, I saved all my watches, always gifts from family, even if broken. I somehow felt attached to them. I never thought it was a collection of anything but memories. Then, my wife (now Ex) threw them out one day, thinking they were garbage and I can't even explain the emotions I went through. To this day I miss them.

@Kirk Blanchard I'm not sure if it would feel the same. I liked the scratches on the crystals because of a situation, the people who gave them to me as gifts, certain personal records set wearing them etc. I can't get that back. Hey, on a brighter note, I made my peace with it and ready for the next part of my journey.
