What we can learn from Clive Davis
Clive Davis didn’t start out in the music industry. He wasn’t hunting for the next superstar. He wasn’t even looking for a new career. He was a corporate attorney — one of the best. His reputation for excellence and leadership was so strong that a friend asked him to lead a major record label, even though he’d never signed an artist in his life. He could have said: “I’m a lawyer. That’s what I do.” Instead, he stepped into the unknown. What happened next changed music history. Clive Davis discovered a talent he never knew he had: He could recognize greatness when he heard it. That instinct led him to shape the careers of some of the greatest artists of all time — including Whitney Houston. Without his willingness to try something outside his lane, the world may have never heard her voice. The lesson? Don’t label yourself as “just” anything. You are not a one-trick pony. You have strengths waiting to be discovered — but only if you’re willing to step into new territory. Your next breakthrough might not be in the field you’re in. Your greatest gift might be the one you haven’t used yet. Keep growing. Keep exploring. And don’t be afraid to surprise yourself.

Thought of the day.
"Never let the facts, common sense, or reality get in the way of doing something amazing" - most likely someone at one time or another.
Hi Start here - Introduce yourself ❤️
Say hi, introduce yourself and share some music or your stories. Also maybe tell us what tracks you loved when your were very young? And what is your favourite animal? The track on the piano was written by my friend Christine Leach, and I'm playing it in my home studio. The other one, on 12string guitar, is called Untitled II and performed in my old flat some time ago. My name is Tom Burton. I am from Brighton UK. I live and breathe music. It is like my autonomic nervous system. Most people call me a singer or singer/songwriter but I am also mad love with guitars. I dreamed as a kid of having a grand piano and I got one in 2018 and built a music studio with my own hands for it. I got into music because of The Beatles and tracks like Help, We Can Work It Out, Norwegian Wood, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Let It Be and so many more..... I love my piano and Tori Amos, Benjamin Clementine, Fine Young Cannibals. I make a full living from music as an artist but also a promoter and producer. Music is therapy for me and I have many health challenges which music overcomes for me. I used to be a nurse, and I like helping people make a living with music, particularly people living with challenges but all our friends and allies too! ❤️🎸🎤🎹 I love cats particularly my cat Kenzie! I like otherworldly things, science, meditation, Dr Joe Dispenza, Robert Monroe, and keeping fit and eating healthy. I love my two sons who are four and five right now. I am passionate around causes and people related to epilepsy and diabetes. I am classically trained on guitar but self taught on everything else. I look forward to talking and collaboration with everyone here.

I am so very blessed that my Mom played music (and danced while listening) of all kinds growing up. I was born in 1962 and my Mom introduced me to the music of the 1950's and everything else. She loved R&B, Soul, Doowop, Rockabilly, country, Skeeter Davis, listening to the Grand Ol Opry on Saturdays. She loved 60's electric music, Nancy Sinatra, Motown, rock, and I am a product of the immersion of the extremely eclectic musical taste she had. All off it, for whatever reason the one recording artist that stands out for me is Neil Diamond. SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVED Neil Diamond. My Mom passed away in 2017 and this ONE SONG that instantly invokes her memory for me is this song: https://youtu.be/K398Q4DYCW8?si=7Eb9hGw2Eflb1GRZ
