Dumpster Branding
I know this topic has been covered before, but I thought I would share my personal perspective and noticeable differences we have felt by changing the color and branding. •Sorry this went longer than I expected. I’m sure like most we didn’t know anything about the dumpster business before jumping in. We were lucky enough to get ahold of a lightly used trailer and 5 dumpsters that were all black. Not giving it a thought we placed our freshly made logo on them. Quickly identifying that that wasn’t enough. Our logo design doesn’t have our contact info so we added block letters saying Rent Me and our phone number. We thought it was great. We heard people saying that they saw us but most of them already knew us. We kept adding a few more dumpsters and slowly getting them lettered up to look the same just keeping them moving was our focus. We all are very proud of what we’ve achieved no matter what our size is. We normally don’t look at ourselves from the outside looking in but we know what is seen from our accountability mirror right. I found myself thinking that it’s not too dirty, it’s just a little bit of rust. I know I’m not the only one. Historically thinking, did any one of us ever think we would say out loud “man that’s a good looking dumpster” Nope! But I bet you have now. 😂 influencers like @Joseph Maxey keep stepping up and pushing their branding over the top and looking damn good as they do I must say. I had an opportunity to do just that for Freedom Dumpsters Va this year. We were facing a total overhaul and I couldn’t see a better time to do so. We did a color change and a logo overhaul without changing the logo. Our yard location hasn’t changed but our dumpsters went from black to blue and we incorporated what we call the bullet on the front leading edge of each side. The new blue pops and the white background makes our logo stand out proud. After a very nerve-racking period getting through the change I don’t regret anything. Don’t be afraid to paint your top rails or make your dumpsters two tone. Stand out in the sea of other dumpsters. Little things really do make a difference.

I see some use “Rent Me” and some not. What’s the logic or psychology?

@Joseph Maxey here’s what we ended up with for sake of simplicity and costs! QR code has a label with Remt Me so it’s not as obvious.

Welcome to THE DUMPSTER RUNNERS NETWORK! Please introduce yourselves and tell us your company name and where you're from. We are going to be taking a deep dive into the world of dumpster. Talking about equipment, marketing, networking, community building, and so much more. We welcome everyone from rookie to master. From aspiring entrepreneur to seasoned veteran of their trade. I hope all of you can take a moment and introduce yourselves. Once that is out of the way we can dive into the wins or pain points each of us is going through. You never know who might be right down the road from you. They can become a GREAT back up resource if your equipment goes down or you're overloaded with work, and if not - maybe you just make a new friend to chat with who shares a similar interest! Make SURE you check out the MAP tab at the top. It will show you roughly where each member is located. It says that it it shows each person as 10 miles off roughly, but I have noticed some people much farther off then I believe they should be. We'll have to check that out and see how it performs over time. FANTASTIC feature for seeing who is close to you though. UTILIZE IT!

@Louis Moore Did you do snow removal at all? If so what did you use for estimating and routing?
🚀 GROWTH AND SCALING - The 4L Framework
I have found this to be a good visual for the "Circle of Life" if you will for growing a business. I first picked it up from Mike Andes, but I've heard other people reference it in their own ways. It goes something like this... Liquidity > Leads > Labor > Leadership > Liquidity > Leads > Labor > Leadership > Continued forever... Liquidity is just a fancy way to say CASH. Cash is the determining factor of whether you still have a business or not. No more money? No more business. Little bit of money, little of time left. Big pile of cash, the opportunities are endless. Liquidity is what makes you capable of investing into LEADS. With money you are able to invest into the proper channels to get you leads. These could be paid ads in the form of Google or Meta, they could be door hangers, bandit signs, or mailers, the point of this story is not to tell you HOW to advertise, but rather that leads are going to be necessary for growth. No leads equals no customers. MANY LEADS means you need someone to turn those into sales, which turns into work, which is going to need LABOR! LABOR is the piece of the puzzle that grows you out of being the 1 man (or women) dumpster operation. In order to have a a self sustaining business, eventually you're going to have to delegate. That means your first step is going to be generally in one of two directions. Hire someone to take you out of the truck so you can focus on the Sales, Marketing, and Admin side (the route I'm leaning into) OR hire someone to take over the admin side while you outsource other tasks such as Marketing and Sales. My personal preference is to get myself out of the truck as quickly as possible. Reality is you are one twisted ankle away from having your business shut down when you're a solo owner operator. If you want to keep the machine moving YOU NEED TO NOT BE THE BOTTLENECK FOR PRODUCTION. But lets say we do that. We're now out of the truck, things are chugging along. You have your driver, you hired your aunt to do the admin, you might even have a second or third truck on the road, but your STUCK. The business has peaked at X dollar amount for the last 6 months... a year... and you're frustrated not knowing the direction to take things. That's where LEADERSHIP comes into play.

🛒 Dumpster Manufacturers and Locations
I'm going to compile a list of dumpster manufacturers, where they are across the country, and the best way to get ahold of them. I can't baby sit every experience that anyone ever has with them, so I can't guarantee that everyone I list is perfect, but I will do my best to ensure we make note of who people are loving and who is dropping the ball for the industry. I have met a few of them in person and have purchased or know people who have purchased from a few, so I'll list those first. If you don't see your current builder on the list and think they do a great job, please comment and leave a brief review. If you've used someone who ended up being terrible quality or an actual scam, please leave a comment below and let use know so we can avoid them. --- TRUSTED COMPANIES --- Evolution Welding and Fabrication https://evolutionweldings.com/ 2095 NW 141st St, Opa-locka, FL 33054 (786) 534-3970 MAC Corp https://www.maccorp.com/ 4717 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46218 (317) 545-3341

@Clay Lane I have mixed experience. Dumpsters have been ok quality but we’ve had challenges with the trailer supports and we’ve gone through 3 winch cables in 7 months. Filing a claim is a ridiculous process. How can they expect our business to be down a week with a 2-3 hour drive each way (2x!!) so their dealer can see the trailer and take the time to process the claim and get repairs done?! That’s what digital photos and video calls are for in this day and age. We won’t be buying more from them if we can avoid it.

@Joseph Maxey Buckshot? I thought so too! We grabbed some 20 yards from them in an emergency purchase after 4 tornadoes hit our area. They’ve been great.
🚨 Marketing Strategies - FREE RESOURCES
What are some of the best FREE strategies you have found for advertising your business? I'll compile a list with information from the best comments. Comment below with the name of the platform and strategy you are using to acquire attention and customers. Resources: 🚀 Instagram / Facebook / Threads Crossposting - I post 5-60 second video clips daily showing various things from drop off and pick up, to maintenance and daily tasks. People like to connect with people they know, and if you show yourself in the content you will 2x-3x the power of each reel. Most of them I mute the audio and post it with some of the included music. 1 Post to Instagram can be cross posted (with linked account) to 3 different social platforms + your story. Thats FOUR places for a potential customer to see your content. Great for a brand builder. BONUS Points if you can tag another company or do a local business collaboration of some sort. -Joe Maxey 🚀 When I'm slow ill drive the truck to run errands. If I need something from Home Depot instead of taking my 1 ton and trailer I'll take the Peterbilt and a dumpster and head to Home Depot. On the flip side you need your rig to be highly noticeable. Pictured below is my new rig. - Tim Wand 🚀 Boots on the ground, cards or door hangers in hand. Gotta talk to people! -Candice Engel

@Joseph Maxey Some of the areas we serve do and some don't, but we have a lot of neighborhoods that in general will just take them down as they see them as "trash". Sigh. I keep trying though!
