Have him on 3 different cams this year so far. This is the best pose for the camera!
A long time coming.
I have been hunting for most of the past 15 years. Up until this year it was mostly with a compound. I had a handful of cases of coming full draw, but didn’t have a perfect shot so I let down. Closest I came to success was a few years ago I shot at a doe, heard a terrible noise and watched my arrow fly over the back of the dear. Found the top cam bushing broke. Decided to go full traditional only this year and put in many hours and countless arrows down range. Took my daughter Saturday for the season opener and saw some deer but got winded on every one due to swirling light breezes. This morning, I said a good long prayer and walked in the woods. About 30 minutes later, this little one walked up. Of course, the breeze was going right to it. The nose was going to work and I figured it was another bust. To my left, there were a couple squirrels in an argument and a bunch of chipmunks running through. Apparently this was enough of a distraction for the deer to continue its walk. I drew back at my one opportunity with a tree blocking me and waited. At ten yards, full broadside, I waited till the shoulder blade opened up with its steps and let my arrow loose. I was met with a solid smack of an arrow making a full pass through. The deer kicked out but didn’t snort or blow and trotted off. A few moments later I heard it crash and I was slammed with so many emotions. It may have even brought a tear or two to my eye. So much time and work has gone into archery and it has become a part of me over the last couple of years far more than I would have thought. Between backyard shooting with the kids, 3d events, setting up and scouting, it finally all came together. It’s not the biggest, it doesn’t have a basket rack, but it is perfect. I said my thanks to the deer and god and just took it all in. I wish everyone good luck, stay safe, and happy hunting. Double lunged, less than a quarter inch from the heart. If the three blade was rotated just a bit, it would cut the heart. For anyone interested, the bow is a trad al reflex longbow shooting 550 grain TAW safarituff taipans, 100 grain insert, aluminum outsert and nock ring 150 grain ozcut elite 3 blade.
A long time coming.

Little Fishing to Reset
We traveled to Kenora ON to do some fishing before the hunting season begins here in Missouri. New place for us and it turned out pretty good. Caught a ton of fish, mostly Northern Pike but we got into some Smallies and Walleye also. My biggest was only 35”. We had several 39”+. A lot of fun but now it’s time to get the final touches done before season starts in 2 weeks! (Don’t get blinded by those legs🤣)

@Shane Baker nice. No we went up to Caribou Falls. First time for us to fish a river system like that in Canada. We have been going to Cat Island for the last 10 years minus Covid!
👋 Hey Guys!...Let's Take The Time To Introduce Ourselves...
My name is Jenn Richardson, my husband, Grant Richardson and I created this group, TradBowhunter - Ethical Predator. We are from Ontario, Canada, I have had a love for the outdoors since I was little. My grandfather being a conservation officer in the United States and my other grandfather a trapper here in Ontario. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 26yrs, love the outdoors, marketing and business so decided to put all three together! This is a passion piece for Grant and I...My hubby being the subject matter expert with Traditional Bowhunting as well as an author, podcast host and 3rd generation traditional bowhunter. We wanted to bring like minded people together and create a place to share their experiences with traditional bowhunting. ----------------- Hey folks! Grant Richardson here - about myself... I was raised in a hunting family. I have Bowhunted with traditional gear all my life and started shooting bows when I was 3. I've been able to hunt all over North America and along the way this past 40 plus years hunting with trad gear I have learned that success is born not from tech or the latest camo but from long cold days in the woods and often- failure. Bows and arrows were always a part of my life and I was lucky to have an upbringing that emphasized time in the woods. I was able to see both the rise of Bowhunting in Ontario and the laws and regulations based on ethics & conservation formed- But - also to see them fall apart to an Industry that focused on the latest and newest tech or gadgets to bring wild game home and not the skillsets I was raised to respect and follow. The very fabric of those primitive weapon/Bowhunting seasons was based on the fact that it was harder to take game with a bow and arrow- simply that it was difficult- but there is the truth that many forgot or perhaps never learned. The Ethical Predator was created from those lessons learned all my life. I helped create this community seeing a need to bring folks from all over the world into a community that supported the old ways, from scouting, tracking & the heritage of Bowhunting I grew up with.

Good evening everyone. I’m Wade, 53, grew up in Southern Illinois and moved to SE Missouri about 8 years ago. My Dad started my love for the outdoors when I was 8. After he passed when I was 14 family and friends helped keep the passion alive. My grandmother taught me how to fish and between bowhunting and fishing I have been happily broke all my life!🤣 I’ve hunted mostly in IL and MO but hunted bear in Ontario a couple times. And I have a guys fishing trip every year to Ontario! Bucket list items are moose and elk. Dabbled with traditional archery for years but finally got serious this year. With season opener in 5 weeks I’m not sure I’m ready to confidently take the stick and string yet. So I’m planning to continue to practice and maybe be ready for late season. Leaving for Canada in 9 days. Fish are calling!! Thanks

What is everyone using? I’m in the market for a new stand this season. Looking for a sub 10# stand that is easy to pack and has a self leveling feature. I’m going to be hunting hilly and some steep terrain in November. I will pack in my clothes and such so trying to keep it as light as possible
