Saturday Traditions
I know it’s Friday night and that means I have a song stuck in my head from the 1970’s and a little (now defunct) band called Johnny and the Leisure Suits. It’s about going to the Lincoln Park Zoo on a Friday night. So first question, do you have a certain song that pops into your head when in a specific situation? Let’s hear it. The song I referenced is the Moo Moo song and it’s based on a true story but probably “R” rated. Now, if you’ve been here awhile, you may know I’ve started a new tradition, thanks to Chef Henry at Crust and Crumb Academy. The tradition we are creating is “On Saturday, we bake bread.” Lots of so-so results but all edible and all fun for whoever is around. Here’s my blob. It’s going in to the fridge for 10-12 hours. I’m making a yeasted item while others are doing sour dough. Can you guess what this blob will theoretically become tomorrow? What about you? Any weekend rituals or traditions in your family or when you were growing up? Final question, would anyone like a simple bread recipe so you can join me baking?

i used to bake sourdough bread. and ended up eating it all myself))) so, I stopped. it was a lot of fun since we've moved to Israel, we have Friday late lunch/dinner where we all get together and have really nice meal and conversations. usually end up very heated political debate. still love it. my boys are 20, 22 and 24 yo with very different views.
