Stripe closed my account
Devastating. There is nothing predatorial about my community. I carefully examined the "restricted businesses list" and nothing about what I'm offering violates their terms. Can anyone help or advise me? I've already reached out to the Skool Support team. This was Stripe's message to me: "Hello, We’re writing to let you know that we have determined that your business is in violation of the Stripe Services Agreement. Specifically, we are unable to accept payments for businesses that our banking partners consider predatory, as mentioned on our Restricted Businesses list. As a result, we will need to close your Stripe account on December 11, 2024. Until then, you can continue processing payments normally, but after this date, your account will be closed and you will no longer be able to accept payments. We will continue making payouts to your bank account until you receive all of your funds. If you believe that we’ve misunderstood or miscategorized your business and would like us to conduct another review of your account, please complete the form below on your Stripe Dashboard to provide more information about your business." Thanks in advance!

@Sid Sahasrabuddhe this kept me awake last night. I had a personal Stripe account before I had a community here. It was connected to Kajabi. Over 3 years lots of money came through it, no issues. Then I started my Skool community and set up a NEW Stripe account. When I got my first affiliate payout, I accidently connected my OLD Stripe (Kajabi) account. A couple days later they sent me a form requesting more info about my business and what I was selling. I filled it out, and no joke, 10 minutes later they informed me that my account was being shut down. Because of one $78 affiliate payout. I reached out to the Skool support team. They calmed me by saying that my Stripe Express account was safe. They helped me connect my affiliate payout to my other Stripe account (the one I created for Skool). A few weeks went by and I got another email from Stripe with the same form requesting more info. Uh-oh. I hesitated, reached out to Skool, concerned. Finally, I filled it out super CAREFULLY. Aaannnddd.... once again, 10 minutes later I was informed that my account was getting shut down. So, naturally, my overarching question here is... WTF? But also, why are affiliate payouts triggering red flags? I hope you're right, that this won't affect my group-connected Stripe Express account. But... I'm pretty sure I created this Stripe account specifically for Skool. I'm... worn out from this. But I'm very appreciative of @Erika Kulpina and the whole team. And I'm eagerly awaiting an update!

I’ve answered 13k Skool support emails. Here are 5 lessons that I’ve learned.
Hey everyone!!! I don’t normally post, but after speaking to some of you in the Skool HQ I thought I’d share a couple of the things I’ve learned working on the support team for the past 1 year 😄 Here we go: 1. When members can’t reach you for help, their experience suffers—and they’re more likely to leave. Solution: Make your support email easy to find. Add it to key places like your community’s About page, the welcome post, or the first page of any course. The easier it is for members to get help, the better their experience will be. When members know where to ask for help, they’ll feel supported. They know you have their back even if they don’t contact you. 2. People get confused about what to do in your community without a clear community roadmap. Solution: Engaged communities provide a clear roadmap. The purpose of the roadmap is to guide members from point A to point B with simple, actionable steps. Outline precisely what members need to do to achieve their goal. This shows you have a proven plan and can help them succeed. People will join your community to achieve their goals. But they stay because of the valuable connections they make along the way. Speaking of connections… 3. Members are less likely to churn when they feel a personal connection with you. Community is like a party: If you don’t know anyone there, you will feel left out. And no one likes that feeling. By taking the time to connect with members, you make them feel included. Members who know you personally become invested in your community and are much less likely to leave. Solution: Start by building relationships through AutoDMs. Ask open-ended questions like, “Have you been doing this for a while, or are you just getting started?” From there, tag them in relevant posts based on where they are in their journey. Move from DMs to a one-on-one call. For smaller communities, consider short 1-1 calls. For larger communities, an onboarding call is a great time investment. You can even direct members to the onboarding call directly from your AutoDM.

I can attest to @Erika Kulpina and the Skool support team's commitment to helping. I've had ongoing issues with Stripe and the Skool team always emails me back promptly... even on Sundays.
🆘 Stripe HELP
I have to give context for this to make sense. I set up payments here on Skool via Stripe Express back in April. No issues. Then, I started getting affiliate payments. By accident, I connected my OLD Stripe account... which had been connected to Kajabi. Stripe sent me an email explaining the following: "It’s important that we know what your business is selling, in order to make sure that it’s supportable under our Services Agreement. Specifically, we are unable to accept payments for businesses that our banking partners consider predatory, as mentioned on our Restricted Businesses List. Please complete the form using the link below to provide some additional details about your business. You can also access this form directly from your Stripe Dashboard." So I filled out the form THINKING it was in response to my Skool community payments. But it was actually regarding the affiliate payouts. I filled out the form and explained the nature of my business and my community. They responded by shutting down my account. No recourse. Just a "too bad, so sad" type email. Then, Eric, from the Skool support team, helped me to connect my affiliate payments to my OTHER Skool Stripe account (Stripe Express). This was 3 weeks ago. Then, this morning, I got the SAME email from Stripe requesting I fill out a form to let them know about my business. Because of what happened before, I'm concerned that no matter what I say, they'll shut me down. This obviously would be devastating. I have 98 paying members in my community. And I rely on this income to support my family. I am NOT violating any "restricted businesses" rules. My community is about building online businesses, improving communication and strengthening mindset. For some reason, it seems to be the affiliate payouts that are flagging my account. If ANYBODY can advise me on HOW to fill out the form to ensure Stripe doesn't shut me down, I would be most appreciative! Also, if they do close my account, what should I do??

@Luz Rodriguez Thanks for responding. My wife and I are considering doing just that - opening a new LLC bank account. If they shut me down in the meantime, what will happen to my payments? Also, will be there any issues connecting to a new account here on Skool? These might not be questions you can’t answer, but ones I need to find answers to.

Anti Stripe…another solution?
I’m sure I’m not the only one that is not a fan of stripe and has horror stories from using their service in the past. I can explain many reasons why you shouldn’t use them and how several friends and clients of mine almost had to shut down their business because of stripe. But, there is no other option! I’m loving Skool but struggling with the fact that Stripe is the only payment integration option. I don’t feel comfortable giving Stripe access to my accounts and yet to receive payouts that’s the only option. Is there a workaround or another option other than Stripe?

@Erika Kulpina hi Erika, I’ve found this thread because this is happening to me now. I received an email from Stripe calling my business “predatorial” which I can assure you it is not. I’m panicking because of the stories I’m reading online. I have a family of 5 and this is our primary source of income. Is there someone who could help me navigate this?

Can't pin post to course page
Hey all - I have a post I'd like to pin to a particular course page. When I try it gives me options, but not the one I want. When I search for the course I want to pin it to, it doesn't come up. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
