The Great Family Rule Breaker Debate!
Can you tell I’m in a rebellious mood? Guess that comes with hanging out with a toddler. So, my question for you has to do with those unwritten rules almost every family has, you know, the ones everyone follows… until someone doesn’t. Today, yyou’ve been granted permission to break ONE harmless family rule for an entire day. No guilt, no consequences, no judgment! For some real insights ask the kids in your world which they would choose and why. Which one are you choosing? A. Dessert before dinner. Maybe even FOR dinner. B. Pajamas all day. Real clothes are officially canceled. C. Bedtime? What bedtime? Stay up as late as you like. D. Make a glorious mess. Someone else handles cleanup. E. Make up your own rule to break! What’s your pick? And would the kids in your life agree?

@Beth Egmon those are absolutely 2 of my favourite things, stay in PJs and read. Add a mug of good coffee (with milk and cinnamon) ideally a storm raging outside, and a cat purring on my lap, and you have my definition of heaven. 😅💕 In fact, that was Sunday where I live. The cherry on top was my husband baking us a delicious Lemon Meringue Pie for dessert. 😁🥰
Show Us Your Pets
Do you have pets? We currently have four cats ranging in age from under a year to nearly 11 and my daughter is going to be sending her 10 year old Maine Coon to live with us for a while. When your daughter is a “geriatric” pregnancy with a toddler at home, you don’t question the ask. Anyway, here’s Lord Stanley of Cup hard at work🤫

@Mary Nunaley at what age are women considered "geriatric" wrt pregnancies? I ask because my daughter is 30. She wants a child, but she wants to be married first, and the man she has been with for 5 years hasn't asked the question yet. 😅

This is our daughter's cat, Cody, who is 9 years old. He lives with us because he was traumatised when we had to leave him in quarantine so that he could come with us to Spain from South Africa. He doesn't do well alone for very long, and since I work from home most days and my daughter is out a lot (she owns a high end cocktail bar with her partner, and they also travel often) it's better for him to be with me. Not that I mind at all. 🙂💖
Welcome to all!
This one's a bit long but I think you'll enjoy learning about some of our newest members. Why not pull up a virtual chair, find a new member and say Hi in the comments. For those just exploring, the Summit Classrooms: Cooking, Experts, Crafts/Hobbies, and Tech close today but you can purchase an All Access pass for $16 to see all the cool stuff you missed during our summit earlier this month. For those looking for activities, if you click the Classroom, you'll find the Curious Kitchen, Build, Play, and Story labs. Take a peek and let us know what you try. More labs posting this week. And now, without further delay - let's welcome our newest community members. We're thrilled to have a wonderful wave of new members joining us—people who get it, who believe in the power of play and real connection with the kids in their lives. @Kylie Larsen is here because she's passionate about helping students build confidence and develop winning strategies, and now she's bringing that same energy to family life. She's working through some health challenges with her family and wants her kids: Ry, Evans, and Kinley to trade screens for meaningful time together. @Krissy B is diving in with four little ones under six and a goal to get more hands-on and active in their everyday lives, a beautiful shift toward intentional parenting. @Morning Smiles is here because she's raising a future doctor and wants to nurture her daughter's ambitions while creating lasting memories together. @Angel Gerry loves the idea of using play to build stronger bonds and create meaningful moments with the children she cares about, that's exactly what we're all about here. @Angela Hawkins works with small children and is organized, caffeinated, and ready to find new ways to connect through play. @Natalie Naslund, a first-time homeschooling mom of five, wants to teach her kids to cook and share the joy of the kitchen together.
Welcome to all!

@Courtney Byrnes I'm living proof you can. 😅 My daughter treated us both to a hairdresser appointment today. It was the first time we got to chat without being distracted by other things. She took this pic when we walked out of the salon. I feel so blessed! 💖
