Quick check-in: Plans for the week + New launch
First of all I want to tell everyone that you are amazing, every single member of this community is absolutely amazing and beautiful and even if you don't engage, comment or like you still are an amazing human :) WOAH I have no clue where that came from BUT Tomorrow we have our Weekly CALL!!!! We will be yapping about building your daily language OS (operating system) to build a consistent schedule and finding the highest ROI tasks. This was last weeks call Also if you want to learn a language in 4-6 months click here NOW Time fur da Daily Quote and value nugget... hmm... gotta think.... There is a super cool dude named Dostoyevski (i think) and here is his thoughts on communication which I think is also language learning.... anyways I think its super interesting 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞: Misunderstanding and communicative inadequacy lie at the root of much human suffering. — Fyodor Dostoevsky Next quote will be from Benjamin Franklin 😉 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐍𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐭: DONT FLIPPIN CRAM UR PRACTICEEE and make it different and unique !! Ok now lets make this a little more practical and deep... Heres an example: Piano teacher had 2 groups of cool students Group A practiced 1 piece for an hour, Group B practiced 4 pieces 15 minutes each after a month B stronger learning, The struggle of switching contexts and retrieving partially forgotten material enhanced retention Interleaving topics strengthens the differencing between similar topics Massed practice produces short term results that creates the illusion of learning while failing to produce lasting knowledge Spaced practice feels harder at first but creates memories that last for years Your brain learns more from multiple short sessions spread over time than 1 marathon session The forgetting that happens between isn’t an enemy it’s a necessary part of strengthening memory This approach directly contradicts common practice. Most students mass their practice (cramming), which produces rapid short-term gains that create the illusion of learning while failing to produce durable knowledge.

Glad that I caught a portion of the meeting this morning. Sorry my camera and microphone weren't working. I recently changed to chrome as my browser 2 days ago, so that may be the problem. It rebooted at the end that's why I left suddenly without saying goodbye. Hopefully I can catch the next full meeting

3 things I am aiming for
As I mentioned in my intro, I joined this group as I have been learning Spanish. I am learning Spanish, because I teach English and plan to teach primarily to Latin, central and South America. My favorite food from Mexico was Pasole.

Learning Spanish
Hello everyone. I joined this group as I have been learning Spanish. I started during the pandemic doing online university courses. But we did most work in a Workbook and weren't talking much. I looked for conversation groups and now belong to a few. I speak in the present tense at an intermediate level. My goal for this year is to get proficient in the simple past and future tenses. I teach English and plan to teach primarily to Latin, central and South America.

I am retired. My retirement plan is to travel the world teaching English to speakers of other languages and doing missionary work for GV2020.org
