Building a Roadmap
As an international student pursuing an MBA in the United States, I have come to appreciate how much professional growth depends on understanding systems, building relationships, and learning from people who have already navigated similar journeys. One lesson I continue to learn is that uncertainty does not always mean you are behind. Sometimes it simply means you are operating in territory that is new to you. For many first-generation builders, progress looks different. You are not only walking the path. In many ways, you are building the roadmap while walking it. That process can be challenging, but it develops something valuable: resilience, adaptability, and the ability to navigate unfamiliar environments with confidence.
What kind of man do you want to be able to look back and say you became?
I want to become the kind of man who can one day look back and say that, for those of us who grew up around constant chaos, peace was possible. The kind of man who seeks to build a faithful marriage, maximize his academic potential, grow steadily in his career, stay rooted in church, and serve his community through voting and volunteer work. I want to live in a way that shows doing the right thing, honoring God, and staying faithful to good principles is not a naive path, but one that can lead to a meaningful and well-lived life.

When Good Feels Unfamiliar
After reacting with confusion to another opportunity, one of my advisors said something that stuck with me: “You always seem confused when something good happens to you.” And she was right. The truth is, when you’ve spent enough time in environments that make you feel small, recognition can feel unfamiliar. You start questioning opportunities instead of simply receiving them. But I’m learning that sometimes the opportunities showing up are simply a reflection of the work, consistency, and effort people have been seeing, even when you struggle to see it yourself.
Seeing it Lived Out Across Communities
In my short time here in Alabama, I’ve had the privilege to travel to different communities and break bread with them. It has had me reflecting on what it actually looks like to live out what we say we believe. I realized it’s not about the label or the setting, but about how it shows up in everyday life across different people and spaces. This is what I’ve taken from it: Show up. Stay aligned. Be steady. Create space for others.
