Berenice KA Nationals in Mombasa
What a weekend! Bérénice delivered an incredible performance, swimming 8 races — even more with prelims and finals — under the intense 31°C Mombasa sun. From my side: we survived as spectators (I nearly fainted 😅), while she was absolutely superb as a competitor! Kenya Aquatics keeps testing our patience, and we dream of experiencing meets in other countries just to understand what normal conditions really feel like. Still, Bérénice truly enjoyed the team spirit, helping to win the girls’ team trophy and, most importantly, achieving her very first SANJ qualifying time in the 200 IM. What a promising start to the 2026 season! Being the youngest in her age group is a real challenge, and we were also impressed by a very promising young Tanzanian swimmer, Nicolene Viljoen — remember that name, she’s going places! No times shared here, as this meet is just one more important step in Bérénice’s journey towards her goals before March. This event officially closes our fall season, and now we’re heading to the colder climate of France for the Christmas holidays — a well-deserved change of scenery. Bérénice’s mum
