First market experience!
Thank you @Ina Jalil for your guidance in the Marketing Course. From that I identified that markets were a good opportunity for me to expand my reach and potential opportunities. I set up my stall based on the instructions given to us during the week which was to allow people to access stalls from the footpath behind the stalls (it's Melbourne, even if it says it's gonna be clear it might not be). But I think next time I'll just make the call to have the set up be accessible from the one side (it ended up being a STUNNING day!). My goal from today was to have 3 purchases (either on the day, or from enquiries as a result of meeting me today) and I feel like I'm on track for that. I've had 1 that was even discussing colour schemes, locations, framing options, who to include etc (AND got the wife's approval!) and another that got the boyfriends approval, confirmed leash on is fine and selected a location based on the photos I had up on display. Also, I clearly need to print my photo of Bones (the one at the back) huge coz apparently THAT is my show stopper based on today's feedback 🤣

@Stacey Sherman I only got the one giveaway sign up, I don't know if it was the audience or what but they were all way more interested in the artwork than looking at the banner which then led to conversations and I forgot to get ppl to enter or otherwise get their details. One couple (the final one for the day) entered the giveaway. Trifold, card and I had charity calendars on sale as well. I was the photographer who took all the photos for the calendar so offered to try and sell some at the market and the rescue accepted and gave me some to sell (which I was able to sell half of). Totally understand the worry about wind. I set mine up to hang from 2 hooks and has them fairly high up to minimise the wind potential. I was also keeping and eye on them when the wind picked up ready to take them down if it got too windy. For the future, if I close off the back I have a side cover that does one wall and a little on either side - so I'd put that up to help reduce the wind and other weather factors as well. In terms of wear and tear due to transportation and market use - I think that's just something we have to factor in as part of running a business. Maybe that's why many printers have sample discounts that renew annually?

@Ina Jalil just the one giveaway sign up, everyone was too focused on my actual artwork to really look at the banner and I forgot to tell them to join once I got caught up in conversations
Would love some feedback before I get these printed!
Hi all, I have a market coming up in December so I'm getting everything that needs to be printed organised and I feel like I'd like some feedback on the visuals. 1. Which cover image works best? 2. Is it too much on the inside to show all awarded images? Or should I add a broader variety? Thank you in advance!
Would love some feedback before I get these printed!

@Helen Green That's ok, I wasn't sure if it was something that was too "hidden" and should be made more prominent.

@Julie Addison Thank you ❤️ I do love how supportive this group is. One of the things that makes me a bit different to other photographers who work with reactive dogs is that I allow dogs who use tools. One of the clients I had this year was nervous about how we'd manage her dog in a rural environment (knowing many photographer are against tools) until she saw in my final reminder that they should bring treats, toys, a long line and if their dog is trained on it - an ecollar to ensure we can reward them and keep wildlife safe. I'm aware they aren't for everyone, but it gives the people who do use them a space to still enjoy photography without any actual or perceived judgement for that use.
My brand new pull up banner arrived!
I used the template Ina gave us, used all my phone photos and made sure to order it with plenty of time to spare in case there were any printing delays coming into the Christmas season. I'm so happy with this! Only problem is I'll need to stand on a stool or chair to actually pin it up... Unless I can learn enough coordination to pin, lift THEN stick the pole in the hole! Please don't check the site linked to the QR code... It's not READY yet 😅

@Yunet Solorzano I'm not sure on the specifics... I ordered it through Canva's printing service and it doesn't specify a size. I'd guess that it's 2m tall though (I'd have to get it back out and measure to confirm)

@Julie Addison I did try that... my short little arms couldn't reach without it smashing on to the ground 😅 I barely managed to catch it before I potentially scratched it
Share your win this week!
It's that time of the week again and I would love to hear your wins this week whether big or small, and it'll hopefully inspire others too!! For me I ran a dog photography workshop in Sydney today and it went well, the weather turned out great and it was lots of fun! Another win was last weekend i had close to $15k sale from 4 clients. So not too bad!! Share your wins below :)

All my gift certificates, brochures and pull up banner for the Christmas Market arrived! Now I have 2 more samples to arrive, then I need to organise ways to display the artwork and I should be ready to go for the market in terms of the physical set up 😁

@Ina Jalil December 7th! So still have a month. I knew I needed time to get all this stuff organised and get some samples etc so didn't want to book a market spot too early
Waffling Client. Is this rude/disrespectful?
In August I had a client inquiry for our US holiday weekend, Thanksgiving. We had a great discussion, I went through pricing and products and he was on board. He never paid the invoice. But there was a lot of time before the November holiday. Another client popped up in September for the holiday weekend. I informed him via email and text that there was another client interested and he didn’t respond. So I booked the second client. He finally responded 3 weeks later and said that he got the messages, understood the date was gone and requested Dec 5. Same story. I sent the invoice, he never paid, Simone else inquired, I informed him, no response, I booked the new client, and he responded a month later that he understood and is now asking for January. In his email he states that work is busy, “but you know how that is”. Here’s my gut reaction: I shall ghost him! It is Halloween over here so, there is that 🤣🤣🤣. Or to respond from my adult side and instruct him that while many of my clients are busy, and I do understand busy work schedules, I also prefer to work with people that respect me as a professional, do not take me for granted, and communicate in a timely fashion. Seriously, this is very rude and I feel it is disrespectful behavior to another professional. My professional side says to inform him I am not available to be his photographer and leave it at that. If I hear anything back, especially if it he is asking, “why not”, “when can you do it?” Is to ignore him at this point. The location is more than an hour from my home. The invoice reflected a travel fee. But at this point, he’s sending signals that he is an unreliable, rude, and a disrespectful client and will be a problem. I would like to hear your opinions on this toad.

I vote for the adult side (as much as the ghosting would feel very satisfying) and explain that while you understand people are busy with work, you feel like (based on his prior behaviour) he's not ready for a Session with you. As such you feel like he's be better placed to reach out when things are less busy and he's in a position to respond to emails, review the photos in a timely manner and make decisions about purchases within your required timeframes. And mention that you can provide updated availability and rates when he's ready

@Janet Deltuva well sometimes we have to call it like it is 🤣 I have something similar in my automated emails. If I send the proposal (which has the invoice included), the 3rd reminder pretty much tells them that it's clearly not the right time so I'm closing their enquiry, feel free to reach out when they're interested and have the time for updated pricing and availability 🤣
