The 80's music post got such a good response, and when Glass Tiger was brought up I just had to share one of the most touching things they have done to surprise and delight someone. (Grab tissues, it may melt your heart.) This is the story according to Alan Frew, the lead guy in Glass Tiger. (All the rest of the text from here to the end is Alan's words) So let me set the scene for you. A life-long Glass Tiger fan Lisa, contacts me to tell me about one of the residents of Pleasant View Lodge, in Mayerthorpe, Alberta. Lisa is a hard-working, loyal and dedicated, assistant at the lodge and here’s the backdrop. Meet the amazing Jean Savage, 95 years “young” and sharp as a razor. Lisa passes by Jean’s room one day and immediately recognizes Glass Tiger blasting out of what she thought was Jean’s radio, only to find out upon entering her room that it was in fact, Jean blasting her Glass Tiger CD. “You know these guys Jean?” “ Know them, I LOVE THEM,” she replied. Knowing Jean loves to read, Lisa asked me if she could get a signed copy of my book, The Action Sandwich (a six-step recipe to success doing what you’re already doing) for Jean. Happy to comply I sent her a copy. Jean loves it and was so thrilled to have it that Lisa contacts me again and asks what are the chances of my stopping in on my way to our gig last night in White Court, Alberta. I don’t mind telling you, we are slammed on this run, tired, beat up, on a tight schedule but I asked the guys to come with me and do me this favour but more importantly, for this dear, sweet, lady. And so we pulled the bus up at the lodge and entered together, much to Jean’s surprise and amazement. She had been anxious to get to bingo 😂 but they told her something “special” was arriving! “It better be BETTER than bingo,” she declared. Well now, her face when I approached her was beyond priceless and we shared the biggest hug. I then introduced her to everyone and they each hugged her one by one. We chatted before I spied a piano in the corner and now as they say, “The rest is history.....”
