🌟 Day 3 is Up!
Let’s Talk Glimmers! Today’s theme is all about the tiny moments that make you feel alive, playful, and present...the small sparks of joy we often rush past. ✨ This could be... 🍃 Taking the long way home 🎶 Singing in the car ☕️ Savoring your coffee 📚 Reorganizing your favorite shelf 💫 Your Challenge (if you choose to accept it...): - Snap a photo or short video of a playful glimmer... - Share it on your IG stories + tag me @dr.angelynfranks 📸 Everyone who shares before Friday morning at 8 am CST will be entered to win a little Play Week Prize! If you’d rather stay cozy, you can post your glimmer inside our Skool group instead 💖

I didn't snap a picture but I was at the nature preschool I contract with and it was a gorgeous day with all the fall colours and sunshine. Also, one of my private clients that I see at my office attends the KG at the same location. He is autistic and at first he didn't quite make the connection that I was the same Abbey that he comes to play with. But when he did he had the biggest smile and gave me the best hug ever!

Today’s session was all about choosing self-care that fits who you are + what you need...not what looks good on paper. 💖 We talked about filtering self-care through your values, capacity, and play personality, + how even small tweaks can make it more energizing and aligned. After you’ve had some time to digest the call or the recording, I’d love you to come back and share in the comments: ✨ What’s one self-care activity you’re realizing might need a reframe? OR one that you’re doing that really feels aligned? Can’t wait to hear your reflections! 💬

I have a pretty good sense of activities that feed my need for exploration and movement (hiking, paddle boarding, skiing). They are also very aligned with my core values (health, fun, autonomy, achievement, connection). I know how amazing I feel while doing these as well as after. However, these can't be an every day thing. What you talked about in terms of capacity really stuck out to me. I have a hard time finding things that light me up just as much when I have to stay home/in town. My all or nothing thinking kicks in. I can reframe how I look at some of the other things I am doing (e.g., working out at the gym, yoga, going for a walk, etc.). I am still moving my body, connecting with nature/other people, having fun, doing activities to support my health. I am trying to see the small achievements and celebrate those (E.g., increasing weight at the gym, actually being present mindfully for part of the yoga class, etc.). If I have a hard time motivating myself to do these things I can remind myself WHY they can also be considered self-care (even if I am not doing my most favourite activities).

Now that you’ve had a little time to explore your Play Personalities, I’d love to hear what you discovered! 💖 Did anything surprise you? Was it hard to narrow down or figure out your type? Or did one or two instantly click + you felt like, “yep — that’s me”? If you’re still exploring, you can: ✨ Use the Play Personality Finder GPT in the Day 1 folder ✨ Or try the Lindsay Braman quiz — it’s in the Outside Resources tab inside the Extras + Goodies folder in the Classroom And if you want to share a little bit more, feel free to add any anchor memories (or photos from them!) below — I’ll add my bus trip photo! 🚎 💫 Can’t wait to see what you found + what memories came up for you. ✨

Hey Everyone! I'm so so excited you joined PLAY WEEK! If we haven't met yet, I'm Dr. Angelyn Franks, a speech-language pathologist, burnout coach, + mindfulness researcher. My work (and my heart 💖) is all about helping stressed clinicians trade burnout for clarity and alignment — and during Play Week (Oct 6–10), we’ll be using play as the doorway back to energy and joy. A little about me: ✨ Spaciousness, connection, mindfulness, authenticity, + curiosity are my core values 🔬 My SLPD research focused on mindfulness and stress 🏡 I grew up outside of Boston + now live in Arkansas 💖 Mom to Haylee (almost 16!?) and dog-mom to Brody (almost 5!?) When Play Week kicks off, we’ll carve out 30 minutes each day live on Zoom to: 🍁 Understand why play matters in burnout recovery 🍁 Discover your Play Personality 🍁 Build a realistic plan for weaving play into your life Drop a quick intro in the comments ⬇️ ✨ Your name + where you’ll be tuning in from ✨ What you do (SLP, teacher, OT, PT, etc.) ✨ A gif or pic from your favorite childhood game or TV show (The nostalgia is totally on theme for PLAY WEEK 🍂🎉)
