The Dark Side of Discipline
Hey everyone!! Surgery recovery is going well, huge thanks to @Austin Douglas for carrying the torch on the Podcast this week 🙏🏻 We discussed Discipline on the show a few weeks back, and we covered a lot of the unspoken Truths regarding it. I wanted to share this clip with you all because it is a somewhat darker side to Discipline, and one that is much more challenging to implement. Sometimes, we have to build the skill of saying "No." No to the dinner that throws off your meal plan, no to the gatherings that may pull you from training, no to even the people who want to see us relax and not push so hard toward our Purpose... This is not Polite. However, it is one of the deepest displays of Respect you can show to yourself and those around you. Because you will build a version of yourself that operates at a much Higher Potential, and in doing so, you will be able to serve everyone in your Life at a much higher capacity. This week, we all should focus on building that skill of saying "No" so we can stay more highly disciplined in our Pursuit of The Impossible. And we can show the highest form of Respect to everyone we serve. Welcome to The Impossible ❤️‍🔥 Best, Matt

I agree with the premise of the post. Saying no, for many, is a challenge. I was most likely in that boat a few years ago. I learned the value of saying No during my recovery. The most well intentioned people felt the need to constrain me and my expectations of what I wanted. I lost some friends, I lost some family members. I have , in my opinion, thrived without them. Now, I have a very supportive wife, I have an adult daughter that loves me and a family blessed upon me by my wife. Saying No is a learned action, it rarely occurs naturally. I hope all can learn this minus the trauma that brought mine on. Be blessed, return love given but always remember you cannot help anyone without helping yourself first.

In case anyone watch my webinar yesterday, I wanted to add something, I meant to touch upon. For those who may wonder how I turned the company around into being successful, it truly was devotion: 1. To understanding the circumstances. 2. To understanding how we got there. 3. Studying the mindsets of people who win. 4. Discovering the trends inside the industry. 5. Making decisions quickly. 6. Fixing decisions quicker. It was less about what I felt was going to work and more about how I could get my consumers to spend their time, energy, and money on my product/business. @Rachel Eickert While all the bullets above are important, I feel number 5 & 6 (in that order) are the most significant. Thanks for the update!
Philosophical musings
Through adversity comes character, Through pain comes growth When character meets growth, we exceed expectations. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Why? The eternal question, Are we here, are we not, is this the best I, or you, can be? To strive. To breathe. To love. To live. Triumphs and tragedies. Yet death awaits us all. Why then? The question should be. Should I strive, reach, attempt, even try? When deaths grasp is my only reward… For I am human. I am man. Although my time is limited, a blink in the cosmos eye, it is MINE, for however brief it may be. It is filled with memories, and dreams, of what was and is to be. It is daily action, striving to make TODAY better than all the yesterdays prior. I own this present; yesterday’s are mere memories, tomorrow’s yet fulfilled action.
How much does it take??
I loved this concept the second I saw it and had to share it with you guys. 👊🏻 Especially in the age of social media, our lives are more filtered to onlookers than ever before. Every reel we scroll through, it appears as if everyone is performing at the peak of physical humanity… What we don’t see is the countless hours of struggle, practice, trial and error, and failure that goes in to achieving something truly great. All we see most times is the end result, which can leave us extremely frustrated with our current situation… The antidote? Become obsessed with the process. When you build a Devotion to the pain, the suffering, the failures, and accept them all as part of the process, you will find a renewed excitement for the path that leads to Excellence. Then take it one step further and post the entire journey for your followers to see. Every failure. Every tear. Every frustration. Because when you finally showcase The Impossible, everyone will know exactly what it took to get you there, and more importantly, that they can do the same… Welcome to The Impossible ❤️‍🔥 Best, Matt

Amen and amen. Additionally, we quantify our”look” and our progress with others in the gym. This is not bad (being surrounded by gym folks), but it jades our own progress.
Your Goals should Scare You…

I gotta go back to Goggins on this one. I heard him state, “set impossible goals, crazy ones, one that people look at you and know, that is crazy”. I don’t have a 500 lb squat as a goal, I know I’ll get that, I want the 550 - 575 bench. This may not seem crazy to a lot of you, but I crushed my right rib cage, punctured the right lung and broke 5 ribs on the left side. I need a replacement shoulder on the right side, yet I still search for that magic number. Currently 385, but creeping up on it. WE can do anything WE set our minds to.
