Welcome to the Group
🚨 New Chi Crew Alert! 🚨 I wanted to start this welcome out with that I haven't been doing these daily welcomes because I was thinking perhaps I was welcoming too often. There is a poll where you can vote on how often you want to see these welcome posts/emails. Currently the winner is Daily, and this poll is going until June 2nd, which is when it will be taken down. Please vote, so I can give you as much value in whatever form, and as often as you would want it. These recent joins are from May 28 through May 30. Let’s roll out the tiny red carpet for our newest members! 🎉🐾 You’re not just joining a group—you’ve found your pack. This is home, not that awkward “aunt’s house” energy where you’re stuck petting a cat you didn’t sign up for. 😅 Here, we get the zoomies, the sass, the late-night snuggles—and we celebrate it all. 💛 As you explore, you’ll find posts and convos that feel a little closer to your heart (or your dog’s heart-shaped nose). That’s no accident—responding, sharing, connecting? That’s exactly what this space is for. 🗣️🐕 So don’t be shy! Drop a pic, tell us about your pup, or jump into a post that speaks to you. You’re officially one of us now. 💬🐶 Let’s show our new Chi fam some love below! 👇👇👇 Lets hear it for the pups, it is super easy. We want to hear about you and your dogs (we drool over photos) - https://www.skool.com/chihuahua/lets-hear-it-from-the-pups-2?p=d542b82f Marie Ford Kenn Hawes Lauren Hruda Mary Mclain Gwenith Jones Geri Atkinson

@Michael Drawe he has a hoodie but he grew out of it. I'll see if my boyfriend will get him a tshirt. I want him to wear baseball shirts

@Michael Drawe unfortunately not. I just bought him the first one I saw.

Do you remember where you were the first time you saw the chi that would become yours? Let's hear the story and laugh/cry together!

😬 Why Your Chihuahua Might Be Biting You (And What You’re Accidentally Doing to Encourage It)
Let’s talk about something a lot of Chi parents deal with but don’t always talk about—biting. Whether it’s playful nipping or a full-on chomp, those little teeth can cause big problems. But before you blame your Chi, let’s figure out why it’s happening… and what you can do to stop it. 🧠🐕 Here’s your step-by-step Chi bite-busting guide: 🐶 Understand the Root Cause Not all bites are created equal. Your Chihuahua could be biting because of: - Teething (especially under 6 months) - Fear or anxiety (startling, loud noises, strangers) - Overstimulation during play - Resource guarding (food, toys, you!) - Lack of proper boundaries First step? Pay attention to when it happens and what just happened right before the bite. 🧸 Redirect, Don’t React Never yell or physically punish your Chihuahua for biting—it teaches fear, not respect. ✔️ Instead, redirect their bitey behavior to appropriate items like: - Chew toys 🦴 - Frozen carrots or dog-safe chews for teething - Tug ropes (with rules: “stop” means stop) 🙅‍♀️ Stop Play Immediately If your Chi nips during play: 1. Say “ouch!” in a firm, surprised tone 2. Stop interacting immediately 3. Turn away or leave the room for 10–30 seconds This mimics what another dog would do—they’d stop the fun. Your Chi will quickly learn: "If I bite, the fun ends." 🕒 Stay Consistent The key to teaching your Chihuahua not to bite? Consistency. - Everyone in your home should follow the same rules - No mixed signals—biting always stops the fun, even if it’s “cute” or small 🧘‍♂️ Stay Calm and Patient Remember, your Chi is learning. Puppies especially are exploring the world with their mouths. 🐾 Give them time, redirection, and firm-but-loving boundaries. Bonus Tip: If your Chi is biting out of fear or aggression, early socialization and desensitization are essential. Take baby steps and reward calm behavior around new stimuli. 🎉 Every Chihuahua has the potential to be a calm, confident cuddle bug—not a tiny land shark. It starts with understanding, structure, and a sprinkle of Chi-sized patience. 🐕💛

Thank you so much for this post. My little Chi is always biting me and my boyfriend and his little teeth really hurt. He will be six months old soon so at least I know part of the reason he is biting. Have a great day!!!

@Michael Drawe my pup has lots of chew toys, frozen green beans and ice yet he really likes to bite me and my boyfriend. He's getting a little better with time though. 😁
